This is one product I have mixed feelings about. I tried one shade Abu Dhabi long back and detested it, maybe because of the chalky texture and unflattering shade. However after a gap of 2 years I decided to give it another chance and picked 4 of these. I loved Soft Matte Lip Cream Monte Carlo and reviewed it already. Two more shades San Paulo & Antwerp have been reviewed by Dela.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream – London
Packaging is simple and user friendly. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream comes in a tube packaging with a sponge tip applicator.
Shades – Addis Ababa is a bright blue based pink which looks almost fuchsia and very flattering against my complexion. One can tone down the intensity by blotting the shade using a tissue paper. Since the formula is creamy , you can always control how much you want on your lips, go easy and get a nice tinted effect.
London, I expected it to look good however it looks too light to be a neutral shade for me. It almost makes me look dead and de-hydrated. However this shade can be a good everyday shade for fair girls.
Texture & Formula – True to brand’s claims texture of these mate lip creams is velvety soft. Formula is matte and finish is velvet matte. I love this finish when the shade is dark, however lighter shades tend to look chalky. Also getting even application takes time since the product keeps moving around. I prefer these without moisturizing my lips since application is much convenient then. Formula is indeed moisturizing and keeps lips comfortable.
Pigmentation – Both the shades are quite pigmented. Formula provides medium to opaque coverage.
Staying Power – NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream London, Addis Ababa stay on for good 3+ hours. Darker shades settle down as tints after a while.
Overall Thoughts
I really enjoy formula and finish of NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream. These lip creams are quite moisturizing and stay on for a good time without touch-up. I am eyeing new additions to this range – Prague & Copenhagen. Do try them if you get a chance to.

I love these lip creams. I have Addis Ababa and San Paulo. I also wanted Ibiza, Prague and Coppenhagen but they are not available in Sephora. 🙁
