NYX Monte Carlo Soft Matte Lip Cream (Rs 570 for 8 ml) available at Sephora
Neither lipstick nor lip gloss, this matte lip cream is a new kind of lip color that goes on silky smooth and sets to a matte finish. Soft Matte Lip Cream is surprisingly durable and, unlike some matte lipstick formulas, also moisturizing.
NYX Sof Matte Lip Cream is available in 22 shades. However I could only find 7-8 shades in sephora here. I had reviewed one more shade long back and wasn’t very happy but this time I decided to give it a shot again and bought 3 more shades. I am reviewing one of my favorite shade this month.
Shade – Monte Carlo is a beautiful Berry toned red. Oh I love it on me , it looks absolutely stunning and I am sure this particular shade would look amazing on anyone irrespective of their skin tone. Its deep enough to be worn during the current weather/season.
Packaging is simple and travel friendly. It comes in a lip gloss like tube with a sponge tip applicator.
Texture & Formula – NYX Soft matte lip cream has a soft velvety formula. Texture is smooth and it glides on the lips smoothly. I have dry lips and whether I wear it over moisturized lips or on its own, it doesn’t settle in fine lines nor does it makes them flaky. Formula is not liquid or runny in consistency and is quite dry, that’s why doesn’t take much time to set. Finish is velvet matte and I love that. My lips do looks slightly dry when the color starts fading after 4-5 hours or after meals.
Pigmentation – NYX Monte Carlo is nicely pigmented and mere 2 stroked cover lips opaquely. On my pigmented upper lip color looks slightly darker than how it appears on the lower lip.
Staying Power – Monte Carlo Soft Matte lip cream has an amazing staying power. It stays on for good 6+ hours and survives through meals and snacking. It reapplies evenly and doesn’t get patchy.
Overall Thoughts
I am quite impressed with the velvety soft texture & finish on NYX Soft Matte lip cream. Monte Carlo is a must have for those who love reds. I am eyeing couple of more shades from this range already.
