I normally prefer liquid foundation as they suit my combination-oily skin well. I tried Maybelline Mousse long time back but it did not suit me much. This time, I gave a try to Essence Mousse which suited me and I have been wearing this quite often as it is super easy to apply.

About: The Essence Soft Touch Mousse Makeup’s super delicate mousse texture gives your face a smooth and natural-looking matt complexion while allowing your skin to breath freely. Available in 5 shades.

Shade- I bought the shade Matt Ivory (04) which is slightly lighter than my NC 37 skin tone but it adjust and mimics my skin colour after a while. The shade has neutral undertones.

Packaging- The packaging is very similar to Maybelline Dream Mousse foundation with a round heavy glass base and a plastic lid. It is easy to keep but it isn’t sturdy and prone to breakage. Also, I have to take the product out with my fingers which is really annoying.

Texture & Formula- The mousse has a very soft and cushiony formula. It melts into the skin and provides a flawless finish. The foundation is matte and I would say it will be too drying for dry skin as it sometimes accentuates dry skin on my skin as well. It is easy to blend. The foundation did not break me out neither did it clog me pores. The formula is oil free.

Pigmentation- Essence foundation provides light to medium coverage. It can be easily overdone and look caked up so one has to be careful. It will even out the complexion and brighten it up, blur little skin problems but major areas need proper concealing.

Staying Power- On my skin, Essence Mousse foundation stays f r about 4-5 hours after which I can see my T-zone getting slightly shinier but it never gets oily. The mousse can settle it the expression lines or accentuate dry patches.

Overall Thoughts

Essence soft touch mousse is one of the best mousse foundations available. It is a great product for girls on the go as it is so easy to apply and blend. The foundation doesn’t oxidise on me and imparts brightness. It provides matte finish which is amazing. The finish, formula, staying power is great. The only con is the availability and the fact that it accentuates dry skin but proper moisturising can overcome this.

Rating- 3.9/5
