Aroma Magic Activated Bamboo Charcoal Face Wash & Shampoo Review

Aroma Magic is a brand I have mixed experience with. The brand is known for its natural, paraben free products that are loved by many. They have launched two new products Aroma Magic Activated Bamboo Charcoal Face Wash & Shampoo. I was a bit sceptical in the beginning as charcoal is known for deep cleaning and my skin & hair type is dry. I was scared that it might dry out my skin/hair but after using both for good one month this is my experience –

So like I mentioned my skin type is dry , but i get breakouts occasionally, specially when the wether is humid & hot or around that time of the month. I believe in “prevention is better than cure” and use clay based masks once a week without fail to deep clean. After reading rave review of Aroma Magic Activated Bamboo Charcoal Face Pack done by one of the blog contributors, I couldn’t help but test all the two new launches myself.

Aroma Magic Activated Bamboo Charcoal Face Wash (Rs 195 for 100 ml)

I wash my face twice daily, ever since a dermatologist recommended it during consultation based on my skin analysis. For almost a month now I have been using Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild every morning & Aroma Magic Activated Bamboo Charcoal Face Wash in the night.

The face wash comes in a black tube, like rest of the products in this range. The product is black in color, and gel like. I take twice a pea size amount and lather it in the palms before massaging it on my face. It lathers up nicely and cleanses the skin without making squeaky-sound. I feel my face clean without getting dry. I have observed lesser breakouts and white heads ever since this product is in action. If you have dry -combination skin then using a good moisturiser is always a good idea. I use this cleanser at night and use The Body Shop Oils Of Life Facial Oil & Sleeping Cream after it.

The smell is quite different but I don’t find it unpleasant. It reminds me of camphor.

The face wash is 100% free of paragons, soap, alcohol, colouring and fragrance. The activated charcoal deep cleanses and promote blood circulation. It has anti bacterial & anti fungal properties so if you suffer from severe breakouts than this is the product you should include in your regime.

Now coming to the second product in this range – Aroma Magic Activated Bamboo Charcoal Shampoo . The shampoo comes in a bottle with pump which is the most convenient packaging.

I wasn’t sure if this is going to be the right product for my hair type. I oil massage my hair twice a week and this shampoo was quite gentle the first time and didn’t remove the oil completely. Since the formula is detoxifying I thought this would dry out my hair and make them frizzy, but there outcome was completely opposite.

The next time I washed my hair without applying oil and it cleaned without drying them out. My hair felt soft , smooth & bouncy ! So I looked at the packaging to find out what all it claims to do – Now activated charcoal is known for deep cleaning & detoxifying, now the formula removes dandruff & prevents hair fall. It moisturises the scalp and strands with potassium & magnesium. It also prevents frizz & hair static (has some science behind it).

The formula lathers up nicely and washes off easily without makeup hair dry.

Overall Thoughts

Well I am impressed ! As per the directions one should use it thrice a week, which is too much for me, but i use it twice a week. I don’t have hair fall or dandruff issues so can’t comment on its efficacy but the hair do feel soft & moisturised. Both the products – Aroma Magic Activated Bamboo Charcoal Face Wash & Shampoo have really impressed me ! I haven’t seen these online anywhere though.
