I am up with another review and it’s about Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrasource Hydrating Mask. Festive season calls for stunning makeup looks and hair styles. Giving us a small treat at salon just before diwali season is a must for most of us.
Other than a deep cleansing or tan removing facial, our next target is always a rejuvenating hair spa. Salons suggest us an appropriate hair spa treatment depending on our hair volume, scalp and hair problems. One single session of hair spa is able to burn a big hole in our pocket.

Packaging: Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrasource Hydrating Mask comes in a jumbo size white plastic tub. It has a purple screw lid to secure the product. Since this is a salon product, it is not designed for travel purpose. The chubby packaging is somehow justified. I don’t like tub package products.
They get contaminated easily and expire super soon. I always use plastic ice cream spatulas to take out the product. The brand provided complete ingredient list. I am happy with the ingredient level detailing.
Colour & Consistency: The hair mask is pure white in colour. Its texture is thick and creamy. It is way thicker than regular conditioners and has heavy duty nourishing properties. This mask is designed for extremely dry and fragile hair. Its hydrating formula deep conditions the hair and controls frizz. The fomula is free from parabens.
Fragrance: This hair mask has a soothing floral fragrance to it. The fragrance is not overpowering but stays on my hair for the entire day. Matrix has used quite a lot of artificial fragrance creating ingredients. If your skin is sensitive to any of them, you should avoid this product.
Quantity & Price: Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrasource Hydrating Mask is priced at Rs.475 for 490gm. This is the only size available for this product. This is a professional grade product designed especially for salons and spas. You won’t find this on small beauty stores. You have to but it directly from salons or online websites. Matrix comes up with 5-10% discounts from time to time.
My Overall Thoughts
I always opt for Matrix Hydrating spa at my nearest salon. This time I bought the Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrasource Hydrating Mask to do hair spa by myself. This one tub cost me 475 while one salon spa costs 1200! I can easily do 10-12 hair spa treatments with this 490gm tub. I am so happy to save so much money with this one product.
Coming to the performance, it is a deep nourishing spa cream. It is suitable for dry, extra dry, damaged, colour and chemically treated hair. Oily hair people should not try this. My wavy curly hair gets super frizzy at times. This hair spa cream helps in managing my hair.
I don’t always do weekly or monthly spa treatments with this. I use it as my deep conditioning on-shower hair mask once or twice a week. Its ingredients list is quite similar to regular conditioners. But, the nourishing ingredients are used in more quantity thn a regular conditioner.
That is why this gives extremely good results as deep conditioning mask. I apply it in moderate amount after hair wash and wait for 5-7 minutes. After hair wash, the hair feels smooth to touch. There are fewer tangles, less hair breakage while combing. Its regular use has also reduced the split end issues.
I have always had pretty severe split ends. Just one thing I have to mention here. This heavy conditioning cream can crate product build up if you are not rinsing it well. That build up might make your hair limp.
