MAC Verve Satin Lipstick(Rs 1450/- for 3 gm) available over MAC counters
I wanted another nude brown lipstick after getting MAC Double Shot, but I was more tempted to get a shade which would be darker. Although I was thinking of getting Taupe, in the end, I swatched MAC Verve and fell in love with the shade. MAC is currently priced at 1450/- but it is supposed to go up again, so stock up, I say!
Packaging: MAC Verve comes in the standard black and silver package, since it is a member of the permanent range.
Shade: MAC describes Verve as “muted brownish plum”. On me it is more brown than plum,with no shimmers, glitters, or sheen. It is a nice shade of brown with hints of pink in it. I love the color because it is extremely wearable, and not too warm a brown. That makes it great for teaming up with my favorite tan jacket.
Texture and Formula: I am a bit of a sucker for the satin formula. I do have a couple of other shades in the same formula, and I love the texture, which is ultra-creamy and therefore, it spreads easily over my lips. The formula is very hydrating, and somehow I find the signature MAC Vanilla scent to be slightly stronger than normal in case of this lipstick. Which is not a bad thing in my opinion. The lipstick formula does not bleed or feather, but it does emphasize my lip lines as it settles. But as I am not much of a fan of glossy formulas, I really do not mind.
Pigmentation: Verve is nicely pigmented, and one swipe is enough to give a lovely wash of color. I generally tend to like lipsticks with intense pigmentation, and this one does not disappoint at all.
Lasting Power: Satin finish lipsticks tend to not last very long on my lips, but this gives decent coverage and sticks on for about 4-5 hours. It does go away if I eat or drink, and fades unevenly, so it is always a good idea to carry it with you for touch ups. Also, it tends to transfer, so be careful while drinking your cup of tea. I have also used it with a nude lip pencil, and at times used a clear lip gloss on it, and this looks gorgeous.
Overall Thought
It is one of those shades which looks great on warm skin tones, and I believe MAC Verve will be a great choice for women who want a nice neutral lipstick that can be worn with heavy eye makeup and/or office. I love this lipstick because it is extremely wearable in corporate presentation days and also when I can’t think much about what lipstick to wear.
