Lotus is one of the famous natural skincare/makeup brand. Their makeup line has some of the best products, specially the Chubby Lip Colors that I reviewed few months ago. I was quite excited to know that they have launched Silky Matte Eco Stay Creme Lip Crayon. I have received 4 shades and testing them out for a little over 10 days now.
Lotus Eco Stay Creme Lip Crayon comes in colourful crayon packaging. It isn’t retractable which means it needs sharpening. The outer color of the crayon represents the color of the lipstick. This way it is quite easy to identify the shades if you have more than one of these.
Shades – I have received 4 shades –
Posh Pink – Rosy Pink
Wine Rage – Deep Wine
Magenta A’La Mode – Purple Pink
Coral Fab – Peachy Coral
Texture & formula – These are supposed to have a silky matte texture and its is true. The crayon glides on the lips with almost no effort, like & soft buttery formula. That doesn’t mean that the formula is creamy, it is matte, velvet matte almost. Texture is smooth , but I see slight crumbly, patchy texture in lighter shades when applied on lips.
Formula is surprisingly quite moisturising for a matte lip crayon. Lotus Eco Stay Creme Lip Crayon keeps lips comfortable and you can wear it without a lip balm underneath. I really enjoy the feel of these, lightweight & smooth.
Pigmentation – All the 4 shade are quite pigmented. My lips a pigmented and except for the coral fab, rest 3 didn’t need much work to achieve an opaque finish.
Staying Power – Thats where the crayon lacks, it does’r stay on for a long time, lighter shades tend to slip & move out of lip lines. Also the shades transfer a lot and don’t set completely. Darker shades like Wine Rage stayed on for 5 hours with fading from inside of the lips after meal, lighter shades fade away in 3-4 hours. Not very long lasting.
Lotus Eco Stay Creme Lip Crayon is priced at Rs 895
Overall Thoughts
I like Lotus herbals products because of their natural formulations. Lotus Eco Stay Creme Lip Crayon have silky matte, smooth formula that is quite pigmented with decent staying power. The shades tend to slip and move out of lipliner, also transfer a lot, which isn’t something I prefer in a matte formula. Also the crayon is wooden and needs sharpening, which would result in product wastage, but it seems just to avoid the bullet from breaking from the base they have come up with such packaging. The texture is soft and would crumble/ break if it were in regular twist up packaging.

Nice review , I also like Lotus Herbal products , shades are nice but bit expensive & staying power is also not good .

I am skipping this. If it was priced around 500 I would have tried at least one, at this price I can get a better lipstick. Thanks 🙂

I have been using the sugar lip crayon but this sounds nice too.
It definitely has an edge over the sugar lip crayon in terms of price.

Glossy formula is really good but transferable shade is really messy!
