It is a beautiful shade of plum tinged well with fuchsia, with a very matte finish. Texture & Formula – MAC Flat Out Fabulous actually tugs slightly while application, and to me the formula is pretty drying, so it is advised to exfoliate properly and apply Vaseline or other lip balm to hydrate your lips before application. I tend to use a sugar scrub with olive oil in it which does both in one go, and then apply the color straight from the bullet, as I have no patience with lip brushes mostly. The color goes opaque on one swipe, has great pigmentation, and sets in a couple of minutes, after which it stays for a considerable period of time, unless I am eating or drinking.

Staying Power – MAC Flat Out Fabulous is a shade which stands out and I have been complimented and asked about the color several times. The color would suit most people – however, I would say it will take a bit of panache to carry this color off, since it actually can make you look very good, or not at all. It does not bleed at all. The lipstick, when left untouched, stays for 5-6 hours easily, but it does flake slightly. It fades unevenly when I eat and leaves a stain, so it is advised strongly to repair your lipstick after eating. MAC Flat Out Fabulous Retro Matte Lipstick (1)

Overall Thoughts

MAC Retro Matte lipsticks are all in the rage right now and these new additions to the MAC’s permanent range seems to be a huge boon, if they remain in stock that is. MAC Flat Out Fabulous is a winner for me, and I am looking at the rest of the range. Bright colors and matte finish are the two orders of the day and I will probably pick up one more from the range.
