The Body Shop Shimmer Waves review swatches photos (2)The body shop shimmer waves palette is a multi-tasking product that is supposed to work on eyes as well as cheeks.   As the name suggests, the shimmer strips are in the form of waves, a kind of take off on the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Rose.  (Though I honestly cannot say which one came first). The Body Shop Shimmer Waves costs Rs 1595 for 8.5 gms available online at TheBodyShop

The Packaging – The pretty little transparent box it comes in, is perfect as you can see the colours from outside.  Particularly useful if you have more than one.  The 5 strips are arranged in the form of waves.  I don’t think all the colours are of equal quantity though, a bottom one looks a lot larger than the other 4, but since this is an asymmetric pattern, it’s hard to say.

The box is sturdy for daily use, but please do take care.  I dropped one and everything fell out and shattered, had to bin the product. The Body Shop Shimmer Waves review swatches photos (1)The Shades – It is very difficult to accurately describe all the five shades in The Body Shop Shimmer Waves. The shade is called Blush. There are two darker rose pink strips, and two slightly lighter rose ones, in the same family of colours, just with more white in the mix.  There is a subtle difference though, with the top dark and light shade being more warm toned than the bottom 2, but only barely so.  The last strip is almost white, very nice for using on the inner eye to open the eyes up.  All the colours have a shimmer finish.   I also have the Bronze Shimmer Waves in which the difference in the 5 shades is far more pronounced.

My personal favorites are the top first and third stip. The two darker blush rose pinks.  I use this mainly as an eye shadow, a simple single colour wash with a bit of liquid black eyeliner.   I have used this as a blush as well, but the shimmer particles makes me stay away.  Although if you have used one of  The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes, you will find the amount of shimmer a lot lesser in this one.The Body Shop Shimmer Waves review swatches photos (3)Texture – I find The Body Shop Shimmer Waves buttery soft – all colours apply really well with absolutely no fall out.  A really fail safe option.  If I’m in a big hurry to get dressed, I normally use this.  It is super easy to use and difficult to get wrong.  I also love travelling with this because I don’t have to correct any mistakes ever.

Pigmentation – The colours are a little on the sheer side, especially the lighter ones.  I actually don’t mind that at all – very deeply pigmented rose eyeshadow can make you look like you’ve cried tons.   You can build up the  intensity by adding layers but they will never be very saturated.

Lasting Power – The Body Shop shimmer waves are a workhorse in the longevity department.  Mine stay the full day without any primer.  In fact the swatches I did on my inside arm were there 3 hours after I had finished taking pictures.    I really love how well this lasts.  Pretty much the benchmark for eyeshadows, as far as I’m concerned.

Overall Thoughts

Love this subtle but beautiful palette.  I like the way The Body Shop Shimmer Waves complements my skin tone and works perfectly for a very nice work or day look.  The shimmer is also just right for the eyes.  I know I’ll be buying this again once mine is over.
