Shade – The shimmer brick contains a combination of 5 colours that are basically hues of pink.
- The lightest shade is a champagne duo chrome colour having subtle pink reflects.
- Next is light pearly pink.
- The third shade is a muted brownish pink. It is shimmery and looks great as an eye shadow.
- Fourth shade is a soft lilac pink.
- The fifth shade is a gorgeous golden pink which is very stunning.
When used as a blush (the shade comes out as a mauve pink)
Packaging – Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Rose is packed in a classy square compact casing having a glossy black body with BOBBI BROWN written. The shade name is provided at the back. It has a mirror on one side that is big enough for touch ups.
Texture & Formula – All the shades are shimmery and well pigmented. I swirl my blush brush all over the shades to use it as a blush and then apply the highlighter shade on the cheek bones using a small tip brush. The texture is very smooth and not at all chalky. It is finely milled and doesn’t clog pores. The shimmer is not chunky or grainy but very mild and subtle give a nice glow to the face. It blends easily with other products giving luminosity to the face.
Pigmentation – All the shades are decently pigmented and work well when used alone as well as when used together.
Staying Power – Staying power is around 6-7 hours. It doesn’t fade when used as an eye shadow although the shimmer effect lowers a bit.
Ease of Application – It can be used as a blush simply by swirling the blush brush over all the shades. However,it can be easily overdone since the shade comes out to be quite pigmented. As, an eye shadow, I use my flat eye shadow brush over the desired shade and for highlighting, I use a small tip fluffy brush. The shades never get blended into each other in the pan even after swirling the brush over all.
Overall Thoughts
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Rose is a must have product as it can be used in several ways and has never failed in any of the tasks. The shimmer formula is great for adding luminosity which getting overdone. As, a blush it is gorgeous mauve pink. It can be applied as eye shadow as well.
The price tag is on a higher side but the quality and formula is top notch. It is great for all skin types. However, I suggest application of compact powder prior this for oily skin as it can be too shiny sometimes.
Colorbar had also launched its version of shimmer brick few years back but it has been discontinued. There is a brand ‘Just gold’ that has similar shades and products at a fraction of the price. However, Bobbi Brown is a name in itself. I highly recommend this product to everyone. There are many other shade options available.
