Nyx launched in India sometime in July and we all went crazy. The brand is very well known internationally specially for its good quality affordable makeup line. I always wanted to try their matte lipsticks range but the shades available at Sephora are limited and mostly out of stock. I received few products from the brand and NYX Alabama Matte Lipstick was one of them.
NYX Matte lipsticks come in black case with a see-through from the middle part, which helps in identifying the shade. The shade name and number are written on the bottom. Packaging is pretty basic.
Shade – NYX Alabama is a brown-red, quite deep. I don’t like such reds as they tend to make my complexion dull, however this shade would suit a variety of skin tones. It is quite dark, almost maroon, but with strong brown tone. You can also check out reviews of NYX Sierra & Pure Red Matte Lipstick
Never go without a gorgeous Matte Lipstick! A smooth swipe of this NYX fan fave delivers highly pigmented, richly formulated and long-wearing colour. The formula glides on smoothly and stays put with a non-drying matte finish.
Texture & Formula – The texture of this shade is quite smooth and creamy unlike regular matte lipsticks. It glides on smoothly without tugging or pulling. Formula isn’t drying and doesn’t feel uncomfortable. I always apply a lip liner while using a dark lipstick so that the shade doesn’t move out of lip lines.
Finish isn’t complete matte and you can see a bit of creaminess. This formula can be good for those who want something creamy but matte, kind of semi-matte.
Pigmentation – NYX Alabama is very pigmented. One swipe is all you would need to get opaque color on the lips. I have dark lips and color conceals the darkness completely.
Staying Power – Alabama stays on for good 5-6 hours and leaves a slight stain.

Overall Thoughts
If you love matte but non-drying formulas then NYX Alabama Matte Lipstick is a good choice. There are over 10 shades available to choose from. The texture of these lipsticks isn’t drying or uncomfortable and stays put for a long time.
