NYX SAYS – NYX Matte Lipsticks are highly pigmented, richly formulated and long-wearing. The formula glides on smoothly and stays put in a matte finish. From Pure Red to Nude, Matte Lipsticks are available in a variety of rich shades.

Packaging – This lipstick comes in a very simple matte black and white plastic package with a little transparent midsection which shows off the color. It is easy to carry around and you can put it in your bag and travel without a problem. The cap is sturdy.NYX Matte Lipstick Pure Red Review (2)

Texture and Pigmentation – The texture of NYX Pure Red is very smooth, and it applies easily without a single tug and pull. The lipstick is insanely pigmented and one swipe gives me opaque coverage. It does not dry out the lips at all, like most lipsticks tend to do, and does not flake at all. It does bleed slightly, and there is no discerning smell to these lipstick, but a faint plastic one.

Color – As described by NYX the color is a bright orange-red shade. What they don’t tell you is the intensity. The color is a true orange-red with a very fine sprinkling of gold shimmers that’s almost invisible until you rub a minute quantity in your finger and then check. What that does is give your lips an added glow that looks amazing.

Staying Power – The staying power is the other thing that bugs me slightly– this color stays on for about 4-5 hours, but it is transferable and goes away when I eat or drink. However, on the face of the fact that this is a very flattering shade on me, I can let the issue go.

Overall Thoughts

I will have to say I am pretty impressed by these lip colors, and especially NYX Pure Red Matte Lipstick. It is an unusual shade of red and I love it a lot. I would be picking up other colors from this range soon.
