L’Oreal has recently launched a new range that is endorsed by famous stars/ celebrities – Pure Reds Collection Star. Range has 7 shades to offer in which you will not only find gorgeous reds but some pinks, oranges and plums/berry shades. You can check Swatches Of L’Oreal Pure Reds Collection Star Range here. I am sharing my favorite two shades from this range today – Pure Amaranthe & Pure Scarleto.
Shades – L’Oreal Pure Amaranthe is a pretty bright berry pink, almost leaning towards Fuchsia. The shade instantly brightens up the complexion and that why I love this shade the most. Pure Scarleto on the other hand is a beautiful red with warm tone, a perfect red for Indian complexion. If you want a deeper cooler red, try Pure Rouge from this range.
Texture & Formula – If you have tried L’Oreal Moist Matte Lipstick, the formula of pure reds is pretty much the same. Texture of L’Oreal Pure Reds range is soft and it glides on smoothly. I love its velvet matte finish. Formula isn’t same across the board, I find Amaranthe more moisturizing than pure garnet, which is a bit dry formula. I have worn both of the shades without a balm underneath and none made my lips dry or chapped. However once the formula starts setting, lips look dry with accentuated fine lines. That is the time when I apply a lip balm to keep the lips from looking de-hydrated.
L’Oreal Pure Amaranthe – Left in Natural Light, Right With Flash
Pigmentation – L’Oreal Pure Amaranthe needs two-three swipes to get opaque, Pure Scarleto need two swipes. I would call it medium to opaquely pigmented. Both the shades can be built up to full coverage. I apply them without a lip liner and none of the shades move out of lips or bleed.
Staying Power – This is where these lipsticks excel, Pure Amaranthe stays on for good 5+ hours , Pure Scarleto stays on for good 6+ hours, Both the shades stain lips, which is a good thing for my unevenly pigmented lips.

Overall Thoughts
I am thoroughly enjoying this range because of the formula, finish, shades and staying power. There is nothing negative except for the price. If you love velvet matte finish, L’Oreal Pure Reds Collection Star lipsticks will win you over.
