Lakme has recently launched matte lipsticks in Lakme Enrich range. These are some of the affordable lipsticks that have been around for a long time, almost 2 decades. Lakme Enrich matte range has over 20+ shades ranging from pinks to reds. There are some nice wearable shades as well as some gothic vampy colors. I have 8 shades from the range and have been testing out couple of them for a long time. Here is my experience –
Packaging is pretty simple. A see through plastic case that does look cheap, and flimsy too. One of the case broke and I have to glue it back. The lid is clear and you can look at the shade, also the shade names are written on the bottom. These lipsticks don’t have names which is a bummer.
Shades – Lipsticks starting from PM are from Pink family, I am assuming PM stands for Pink Matte. Similarly OM is orange matte, RM is red matte, WM might stand for Wine Matte, may be.
I have 3 shades from PM range and PM10 & 11 are pretty bright pinks. PM 14 is a nice pink nude shade that would look good on fair to medium complexions.
OM10 is a beautiful medium orange which would look good on all skintones.
RM11, RM13, RM15 are pretty deep shades of red.
Texture & Formula – Texture is somewhere in between matte & cream. Lighter shades like PM14 tends to look crumbly and patchy. Also PM10 looked quite patchy after initial 30 minutes and kind of settled in lip lines.
Formula feels comfortable on the lips and doesn’t make them dry. The lips have to be prepped before hand so that they don’t look chapped. Matte formulas aren’t forgiving and tend to suck moisture out of your lips. Lakme Enrich Matte lipsticks don’t move out of the lips and stay put for a long time.
One of the lipsticks broke from the base while swatching, I hope that it wouldn’t happen with rest of the lipsticks.
Pigmentation – As you can guess from the above swatches, 7 out of 8 shades were quite pigmented.
I have made a swatch video, you can watch it below
Lakme Enrich Matte Lipsticks are priced at Rs 275 each
Overall Thoughts
Lakme Enrich Matte lipsticks are a good choice if you are looking for matte lipsticks with comfortable formula. Price is also great and formula is good. Only downside is the smell, these have a strong cough syrup like smell which lingers on for a long time.
