Johnson’s Milk + Rice Lotion is my go-to face moisturizer these days. Winter is finally here. My combination skin was getting dry and flaky day by day. So, I decided to trade my summer moisturizer for a heavier one. My skin is quite acne prone. Naturally, common cold creams are not for me.
I needed something that would supply the necessary nourishment without clogging the facial pores. Finding an effective non-comedogenic moisturizer in the budget category is a task in itself. Many brands offer moisturizers but they don’t mention it in their packaging.
You have to check the ingredients list thoroughly. I was looking into baby products category and found this one. Among all Johnson’s baby cream and lotion variants, this one had the most promising ingredients list. My skin is familiar to Johnson’s product because I have been using this brand since my toddler days.
In recent years Johnson brought some changes into their ingredients too. Here’s my review on the revised formula of Johnson’s Milk + Rice Lotion.

Packaging: This lotion comes in a white opaque squeeze bottle with same colour flip top cap. The matte finish bottle is very sturdy. I have dropped it couple of times; the cap didn’t break though. The teardrop shaped bottle looks pretty cute. This lotion is available in three sizes; 50ml, 100ml and 200ml.
The smallest size comes in a transparent bottle and for the bigger two you get opaque bottles. I like simple packaging with all informative details mentioned clearly. That’s the reason I like this one.
Colour & Consistency: Johnson’s Milk + Rice Lotion is actually a body lotion for babies. Its consistency is light and colour is white. It’s not a runny lotion but the formula is kind of weightless. It feels quite creamy at first but gets absorbed within seconds. The formula is free from harmful chemicals such as parabens and phthalates.
The main ingredients of this lotion are glycerine, corn starch and cetyl alcohol. My skin responds really well with nourishing cetyl alcohol. That makes it an effective yet mild moisturizer for all skin types.
Fragrance: Johnson’s Rice + Milk range products have soothing floral fragrance. This lotion too comes with same genre of fragrances. The light fragrance does not stay long and gives me a vibe of freshness. This fragrance did not seem too heavy for adults as well as babies.
Quantity & Price: Johnson’s Milk + Rice Lotion costs Rs.175 for 200ml. I have bought the biggest size. You also get 50ml size (costs Rs.55) and 100ml (costs Rs.100). Johnson often runs 5-15% discounts on this. You can buy it at good deals online. Be it an online or offline buy, this is a cost effective moisturizer for the adults as well as babies.
My Overall Thoughts
For the past couple of winters, I had been switching between Neutrogena and Cetaphil. Both of them have great non comedogenic moisturizers that suits acne prone skin. Acne during winters is a bothersome event!
I was looking for a brand that would provide more or less similar result. I was getting bored of using same moisturizers again and again. Johnson’s Milk + Rice Lotion is a nice change for me. It also has the same main ingredient, cetyl alcohol, like Cetaphil. Even its testure is very similar to Neitrogena’s Oil free Moisturizer.
It instantly provides nourishment to the skin. I apply this on damp skin. The effects are better this way. I like the fragrance too. This one didn’t cause pimples or clogged pores. It does not make my skin greasy like cold creams. The pH balanced lotion is great for oily to combination skin in winter. For dry skin, you might need a heavier moisturizer than this.
