Butter London Brown Sugar Nail Lacquer Review Swatches

Butter London Brown Sugar Nail Lacquer (US $ 15 for 11 ml) available from Ebay.comButter London Brown Sugar Nail Lacquer Review Swatches (3)From my entire stash of nail polishes, Butter London Brown Sugar is the hardest to describe in words, it is truly stunning – to me it looks like autumn in a bottle.  What makes it more special to me, is that it was a gift from a very dear friend. Butter London Brown Sugar Nail Lacquer Review Swatches (1)Butter London is a relatively new brand, started in 2005 but a British entrepreneur.  The polishes are cruelty free and also 3 free, i.e. formulated without the harmful chemicals, DBP, Formaldehyde and Toluene making it safer to use regularly.

Shade – So I’ll try my best to describe this beauty to you.  There is a lot of shimmer immediately visible in the bottle and you can see lots of rust, copper and gold.  On closer examination you can see small round glitter particles but it is almost impossible to guess the colour.  When you hold this in the light you can see the colours shifting between gold and rust with copper in between.   It looks like a flame dancing on your fingers.

The rust tones down the party and makes the polish very easy to wear for multiple occasions, though this is definitely not for work wear.

Texture and Formula – Though Butter London Brown Sugar looks like it has a truckload of shimmer and glitter, the application is very easy.  The polish flow smoothly and is also self leveling.

The texture does not feel very gritty or rough once applied, though this is definitely not as smooth as a true cream.   There is a very high density of shimmer and glitter and this does tend to make the polish a little thicker than a cream.

It dried pretty quickly  – though I would recommend a top coat to enhance the shimmer effect.Butter London Brown Sugar Nail Lacquer Review Swatches (2)Longevity – Butter London Brown Sugar lasts for about 2 days on my fingers before it starts showing some tip wear.  The glitters tend to last for a shorter time since they go on a little thicker than a cream or a jelly.  Still, that’s pretty good for my kind of wear and tear.

Removal is a bit of a pain because of the glitter density.

Overall Thoughts

Butter London Brown Sugar is a colour that will go for any formal occasion, be it a party or a big Indian wedding.  I love the complexity of the shade and the way it looks so different depending on the way the light hits it.
