Sneak Preview of Dorothy Perkins SS14 Collection

I was one of the lucky bloggers who got to witness the exclusive sneak preview of the Dorothy Perkins SS14 collection.  Dorothy Perkins is one of the leading brands from London that in spite of trading for over a 100 years on High Street, is still a destination brand for trend lovers.  

Jabong.com organized an exclusive sneak preview of the international label Dorothy Perkins SS14 collection for the fashion bloggers today at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai during the fittings of Lakme Fashion Week.  The brand will be available in India through Jabong.com and the brands collection will be unveiled at India’s biggest fashion event – Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014!

We got an opportunity to witness the models as they worked on their fittings as we got a preview of the collection.  The wonderful hosts from Jabong interacted with all of us to share the inspiration of the brand and the current collection.  Aki Narula ran us through the rack, emphasizing his favorite pieces.   Aki feels the collection is extremely relevant to the Indian audience.  The fabrics are soft and flowing and the shapes flatter the Indian body type.  The colours palette is mainly delicate pastels and all the pieces are extremely wearable.

Lubna Adams joined us for lunch and gave her views on the collection as young and happy.

What to expect from Dorothy Perkins in India

Dorothy Perkins will currently be exclusively available in India through Jabong.com.   They will be offering a wide variety of sizes from 6 to 22.  This means that almost everyone will be able to shop the range.

Dorothy Perkins SS14 Collection consists of delicate pastels, sorbet hues, laves, tapestry florals and tropical prints.  Every single piece I saw was extremely wearable.  You could build your entire work wardrobe with these easy to wear pieces.   There were a lot of structured jackets which could be worn formally or just as easily over jeans

The evening wear is very versatile and the gold and silver hued shifts would look just as good with ballet flats as with stilettos, giving a very “Goa Vibe” to quote Aki. .    A very happy and playful line of bikinis rounds up the brand portfolio beautifully.

And to answer the question on everyone’s’ mind’s the range will be priced at around Rs 3000.  For a high street brand that delivers amazing quality, style and unique prints, this is extremely affordable and accessible.

I think the highlight is the wearable, versatile,  affordable luxury.  I for one, can’t wait to add some of these pieces to my wardrobe.

Overall Sneak Preview of Dorothy Perkins SS14 Collection was a really fun event – we had some candid chats with both the stylists as well as the Jabong.com team.   Great conversation, a lovely lunch and meeting like minded people makes for an afternoon really well spent.  I certainly look forward to browsing Jabong.com and doing some damage to my wallet 😉
