I went to Delhi recently on a one-day trip and ended up visiting Sephora because it was right there next to where I was staying. I picked up a few items from there, and Sephora Collection Colorful Palette Cocktail on the Beach is one of them. I was looking for a nice neutral palette which would be useful for quick looks, and this was perfect.

Packaging: The packaging of Sephora Collection Colorful Palette is done simply – a clear round pot with the five color showing through a transparent lid which has a Sephora insignia is as basic as it can get, but its really easy to find and great for traveling. Thankfully, this does not come with an applicator (as I tend to throw them away anyway).Shades: There are five shades here.

Bling Bling Style: This is the lightest color in the lot, and is also the one which blends the easiest. It has a slightly powdery texture and I was dreading some fallout, but it worked out really well, and had virtually no fallout. It works wonderfully in the brow bone region. I have used this quite a lot for highlighting my brow bones without making it look too obvious that I have highlighted the area.

Light Copper: A fantastic color for the eyelids, light copper is exactly what the name suggests, with a hint of shimmer which is definitely not over the top. Great on my lids, and yes, blends well.

Gold: This shade is a light, fine gold which blends very easily. When wet, the color is intense, which I love, and I tend to use this on my eye lids as well as on my brow bone, depending upon the kind of makeup I am going for. Great shade for Indian skin tones, and amazing with traditional outfits with hints of gold in them.

Shimmering Sunset: The trickiest shade in the lot, this is a lovely shimmery peach that borders towards golden, with fine shimmers that blends easily. Applied wet, the color layers on intensely and looks slightly over the top on me, so I generally tend to use this dry, and not a lot. Very good pigmentation – perhaps the best of the lot.

Liner – Dark Brown: This is probably the only shade I am not a big fan of. A matte brown, the pigmentation of this color is not much, and even wet, it has to be layered to get the color to show on my skin. The swatches you see on my skin were done without primer. However, as this is matte, it can be easily blended in the eyelid region, and also works out nicely as brow filler, especially on my brows, where it lasts for 4-5 hours, which is not bad for a liner.Texture and Formula: All the shades barring the brown blends really well, have little to no fallout, and can be used both wet and dry.

Pigmentation: Sephora Collection Colorful Palette is decently pigmented, and the shimmers are really not over the top.

Staying Power: All the colors stay on my eye lids, with primer, for 7 hour plus, with little fading. Without primer, the shades fade a bit after 5-6 hours. Thanks to the humidity in Kolkata, I expected nothing less.

Overall Thought

For 1400/- for five colors, Sephora Collection Colorful Palette Cocktail on the Beach palette is good value for money, and is really versatile, because you can use it in office, or really layer on for a party – depending on where you’re going, the palette offers you a number of combinations. Great texture and minimum fallout is another huge bonus.
