Revlon Colorstay Totally Turquoise One Stroke Defining Eye Liner

I love Revlon products and their One Stroke Eyeliners are very popular among ladies, which triggered me to buy this liner even though the price is quite steep. I went ahead and bought the Revlon Colorstay Totally Turquoise which appeared a bit different than conventional turquoise liners. I usually do not go for pencil liners as I cannot create a thin line/winged line with it. I am good with brushes and thus use liquid or gel liners for lid lining. But then again I do not always make a thin/winged line, so for those days I am comfortable with these.

Packaging – It is a regular pencil liner that has to be sharpened as we move along, with a cap that shuts tight. It is travel-friendly. The pencil is colour coded and the brand details are embossed on it in gold. The back of the pencil is coated with a gold coloured metal that gives a very classy finish to the pencil. It has a shelf life of 2.5 years.

Shade – The best apart about this liner, is the shade. I totally detest shiny turquoise liners and normally would not pick up a turquoise eyeliner. However this particular shade made me weak in my knees. It isn’t any normal turquoise colour. This shade is a cross between forest green and a bluish turquoise that makes it a greenish turquoise which is absolutely gorgeous.  There are very fine gold shimmers present in the liner that adds shine to the look. The shimmers are very fine and do not make the liner gritty.

Texture – The pencil is smooth but a little tight. The application is easy but it has to be pressed a little to get an even line. It glides better on a primed eyelid but can get a bit patchy on wrinkled lids. So it is best to apply with a light hand in that case and then reapply on top of it to get the desired intensity.

Pigmentation & Finish– Revlon Colorstay Totally Turquoise is highly pigmented but it is definitely not a one stroke liner. Given the pigmentation, it could have been a success story in a single stroke if the formula would have been a bit creamier/smoother. Due to the lack of smoothness, 2 strokes are required but then it is no big deal as long as the full intensity is achieved. And it is not like any cheap liner, which you have to go on gliding forever until your lids hurt. It is just a 2 stroke to awesomeness, and that is just fine!

The finish goes matte and smudge-proof and is a serious pain to remove if you go wrong with the application. It sets in about 15 seconds and if you can hurriedly correct it within the time then good for you. I always keep an angular brush dipped in micellar water ready in case I go wrong. Another point of highlight here: After 2-3 hours of wear time, I see the liner has softened and has transferred on the upper portion of my eyelid. I have oily eyelids and thus set the liner with translucent setting powder to avoid this meltdown.

Also I tried using this colour as an eyeshadow base while I was donning a festive green smokey eye look for some wedding ceremony, and it worked pretty well; only the blending had to be done quickly.

Staying Power – It stays on me forever as you can already tell! Way beyond the wear-time that is usually expected.  I have to remove it with micellar water otherwise it would not go. Please do not try to remove it with bare cotton/tissue/cloth as you may hurt your eyes/lashes. Instead go for a makeup remover/micellar lotion/cleansing milk.

Overall Thoughts

I love Revlon Colorstay Totally Turquoise and have received many compliments when I wear it. Most definitely you would too, if you could shrug away the high-price-guilt and buy one. I got this one on discount an year back when the price was lower. But 675 INR for drugstore eyeliner is not a very budget friendly pricing. But because of the shade I gave in, precisely the reason why I put up with the little troubles that come with the application. I deducted points for the steep price and the transferring problem that I face after 2 hours of application.
