Nars Dolce Vita Sheer Lipstick Review Photos Swatches

I am back with a review from one of my most favourite brands – NARS. Nars Dolce Vita Sheer Lipstick is a cult favourite. It has been raved a lot. But, I didn’t know about all that when I picked this one up. I had no idea it was so raved over not did I have much insight about the brand then. But I just fell in love with the shade and got it. Incidentally this was my first NARS Lipstick. So, it definitely does hold a special place in my heart and my collection. But the fact that once I start using it I have to deliberately force myself to stop using goes to say a lot about how much I love it.

The only reason I keep Nars Dolce Vita Sheer Lipstick away is the fear that it might get over and we all know how difficult it is get this brand in India. Infact I am considering getting my hands on a backup and then using this one to my heart’s content. J Totally obsessed with it.

Product Description – A beautifully sheer formula infused with ingredients to improve the condition of the lips. Sheer, long lasting color pigments have been suspended in this translucent formula to provide a sophisticated shine.

Packaging –  The lipstick comes in a classic NARS Packaging. The outer covering is a black cardboard box with the brand name and details in white. The Actual bullet comes in Signature NARS Black Rubberized tube on the outside and matte black on the inside. The name of the brand is printed in white over the cap and the bottom has the label with the shade name.

Love the simplicity and elegance of the packaging. The Bullet closes firmly and is easy and lightweight to carry around with you in the bag for touch-ups.

Shade –  There are about 15 shades in this range. Nars Dolce Vita is described as “dusty rose” on the website and it is exactly that. It is a beautiful muted rosy nude lipstick which is my favourite MLBB shade.

It is impossible to describe or capture the beauty of this shade through swatches. For it looks different on each person and each lips and looks beautiful on all. It is such a beautiful shade with warm red undertones and it will suit all skin tones. Also it doesn’t wash you off. All skin tones manage to work with this shade and give it their signature look. It looks very natural on the lips and for those no make-up, makeup looks, it is absolutely perfect.

I love wearing it by itself. Sometimes I pair it with other lipsticks. My favourite combos are MAC Mehr + NARS Dolce Vita or NARS Audacious Anna + Nars Dolce Vita Sheer Lipstick.

Texture & Finish – The texture of this lipstick is very smooth and creamy. It feels very moisturising and hydrating on the lips. It has a slightly glossy finish but doesn’t feel heavy on the lips, infact you can’t feel it one the lips. The lipstick feels more like a balm but has more pigmentation than one.

It doesn’t dry my lips, nor does it bleed. It is a very comfortable lipstick to wear and even when you layer it up or layer it on top of other lipsticks; your lips don’t feel weighed down. Infact it adds to the moisture of lips.

Pigmentation & Staying Power – As the name suggests it is a sheer lipstick. It has a sheer finish, but it is buildable and can be layered over. Even when it’s sheer it manages to cover the pigmentation on my lips to a good extent.

The staying power sadly is only 2-3 hours. But that is to be expected from a sheer finish lipstick and I am personally quite ok with it, because I like to touch it up throughout the day. It gives my lips a beautiful my-lips-but-better feel at the same time feels hydrating on my lips.

Overall Thoughts

If you haven’t guessed already, I love Nars Dolce Vita Sheer Lipstick. I have no complains, no cons nothing negative to say on this one. If there is one grievance I have, it is that the brand is not available in India. I recommend this lipstick, this shade to all. And if you are new to this brand, or wanting to buy your first lipstick from this brand.

I would suggest to go for this and you will not regret it. After all it is named Dolce Vita for a reason, for it means ‘a life of heedless pleasure and luxury’.
