How to keep hair healthy – 5 tips

Monsoon season arrives with hair and skin issues. Proper care has to be given to hair during these rainy days or else it may lead to issues such as hair fall, scalp irritation and much more.  Keep Hair Healthy with these simple tips.

How to keep hair healthy - 5 tips

  1. Oiling – Our granny’s always insisted on oiling the hair! But we never took the time to bother about this. Oiling the hair is very essential. Oiling aids hair growth and makes the scalp healthy. It makes hair soft and manageable. It is ideal to oil hair twice a week. For effective oiling, massage oil into the scalp and then apply the rest of oil to the hair shaft. Tie a top knot or bun and let this oil soak for 10 to 15 minutes. Now wash the hair with a mild shampoo followed by hair conditioner. Let your mane air dry! You can choose coconut oil, olive oil or any other oil of your choice, but make sure that you follow this routine!
  2. Avoid Heat Tools – I know you love that perfectly styled hair, every day!  But using heat tools on your healthy mane can damage it and ruin it in the long run. The best practice is to stay away from these tools as far as possible. They make the hair weak and brittle. Further, it makes the hair dry and lifeless. Make it a point to air dry your hair. Use heating tools on special occasions or when you want to look extra special! Trust me, if you adopt this one trick, then your hair will be even healthier!
  3. Perfect way to detangle – Nothing can be more satisfying than a detangled mane!  Always use a wide tooth comb to detangle the hair first. Later proceed with a fine comb when it is almost dry. Never comb the hair when it is wet, because it leads to pulling of hair and then its breakage! A simple trick while detangling is to start detangling from the ends of the hair shaft, and then to the midsection and at last the crown. This will simplify the detangling process and also the hair-fall rate shall be minimized.
  4. Serum – Serums have made the process of detangling hair easier. Hair Serums fill in the cracks of the hair and keep hair healthy. It adds luster to the hair, making it feel healthy. Serums are, one must thing that you must include in your hair care routine. Only a tiny amount of serum is required per application. Make sure that you don’t use too much of it since it can weigh down the hair and make it greasy. The best time to apply this is when your hair is almost dry. Apply the serum evenly and then comb. This will detangle the hair faster and there shall be no tugging or pulling.
  5. Choose mild shampoo – SLS, Paraben are things that you must avoid in your shampoo. When buying a shampoo, always check the label. These harsh chemicals damage the scalp and hair. Prolonged use can lead to hair fall too.  Natural and herbal shampoos are best for the hair in all ways. Find something that suits you best in this category.

Include these tips in your everyday routine and it will surely keep hair healthy. Eat nutritious food and exercise, to complement this routine.
