Lacto Calamine Daily Sunshield Matte Look Sunscreen SPF 50 Review

This summer’s new launch Lacto Calamine Daily Sunshield Matte Look Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++ is on our today’s review palette. At some point of time in our lives, all of us have been avid fans of the Kaolin clay and glycerin based moisturizing lotion Lacto Calamine.Lacto Calamine Daily Sunshield Matte Look Sunscreen SPF 50 Review

Remember those teen days when Lacto Calamine DIYs were the only cures of our stubborn pimples? As we passed that phase, other more lucrative skin cares won over and we left our trusty Lacto Calamine. I have issues of adult acne so Lacto Calamine is something I use from time to time.

This summer Lacto Calamine has come up with Daily Sunshield. It’s a lotion sunscreen promising matte look. My immense love for matte sunscreen knows no bound and that’s how this tiny sunscreen tube launched into my vanity. Here’s what I have to say about Lacto Calamine Daily Sunshield Matte Look Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++.Lacto Calamine Daily Sunshield Matte Look Sunscreen SPF 50 Review

About Lacto Calamine Daily Sunshield Matte Look Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++

Lacto Calamine daily sun shield matte look sunscreen SPF 50 pa +++ is a broad-spectrum sunscreen, developed especially for oily skin. It shields against harmful UVA & UVB rays and protects the skin from tanning, sunburns and premature skin ageing.

Features:

1. Superior sun protection sunblock – SPF 50 & PA +++

2. Unique water-based sunscreen lotion – light weight and quick absorbing

3. Non-oily and non-sticky

4. Enriched with kaolin clay & lemon extract – gives a clear matte look

5. Dermatologically tested and paraben free

6. Best sunscreen lotion for oily skin

Packaging: Lacto Calamine sunscreen comes in a white plastic tube. The opaque tube has a bright yellow flip-top lid to secure the product from spilling. The packaging is very simple and sturdy. I won’t say the packaging is attractive looking but you’ll get all ‘need to know’ facts from the labels.

It is truly a fuss free small tube that fits even in your small purse. The complete ingredient list is there and also the claims and expiry date. Overall, it’s a travel-safe tube of sunscreen with zero-leakage.Lacto Calamine Daily Sunshield Matte Look Sunscreen SPF 50 Review

Colour & Consistency: The sunscreen looks pale pink in colour and its consistency is medium to runny. The appearance is very similar to the good old Lacto Calamine lotions. The texture is a little creamier than the moisturizer we are using since ages. The brand sells it as a ‘light and non sticky’ sunscreen.

In reality, this is a creamy lotion that seeps into your skin and becomes semi matte. If you apply more product than required, it might get oily after half an hour or so. I thought it would leave white cast like original Lacto Calamine but it leaves no white residue behind. It is not a benzophenone free sunscreen but the formula is free from parabens.

Fragrance: This sunscreen smells exactly like original Lacto Calamine. The fragrance, its intensity and the stay time… everything is same as Lacto Calamine. If you love Lacto Calamine then this one will definitely be on your favorites list.

The fragrance is of course artificial but my skin is familiar with the Lacto Calamine fragrance. It hasn’t shown any adverse reactions on my skin after so many days of use.Lacto Calamine Daily Sunshield Matte Look Sunscreen SPF 50 Review

Quantity & Price: Coming to the price and quantity, the MRP of 50gm Lacto Calamine Daily Sunshield Matte Look Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++ is Rs.349. You have to pay 350 bucks just for a small tube of sunscreen that would last about 2-3 months of regular use. If you have to reapply, you’ll finish it off in just a few weeks.

Moreover, this is a chemical sunscreen; not a mineral sunscreen. You’ll have to keep applying as chemical sunscreens tend to lose efficacy fast. Considering this, it is not a value for money sunscreen; there are other SPF 50 PA+++ sunscreens in the market for lesser price. However, it is often on good discounts. I have bought this around 200-220. So, wait for a good deal if you want to go for this Lacto Calamine sunscreen.

My Overall Thoughts

I have been using Lacto Calamine since my pimple covered teenage years. My oily to combination skin loved the soothing feel of this mattifying Kaolin based formula. That’s the reason I have tried out every single item Lacto Calamine has ever launched. I have used their face cleanser, exfoliating scrub and also their previous range of sunscreens.

Apart from the original Lacto Calamine, no other product suited me. The cleanser and scrub were waxy and not at all palatable for my oily skin. The old range sunscreens, one for the oily skin and other for dry skin, were tremendously oily. They caused a sudden pimple outbreak due to their sticky formula and I had to discontinue them for good.

I was a little skeptical to try out a new sunscreen from this range. Still, I went for Lacto Calamine Daily Sunshield Matte Look Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++ because of my sheer attachment to my savior Lacto Calamine.

The new formula of sunscreen is definitely a chemical sunscreen. It reacts with the UV rays of the sun and disallows them into the deeper layers of the skin. The texture is creamy like its previous versions.

I thought it would make my skin oily. Somehow, the creamy feel went away after some minutes and I was left with normally moisturized kind of feel. My sun sensitive skin gives out burning sensations as it gets exposed into bare sun. Effective sunscreens delay this sensation until they lose their efficacy.

With Lacto Calamine Daily Sunshield Matte Look Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++, my skin remains irritation free for 30-45 minutes. I haven’t exposed my skin more than that period so I don’t know the limit. It did not break me out as well. If Lacto Calamine could lower the price a little and bring some skin-safe mineral sun care ingredients into the formula, I would keep buying it forever.

Thank you for the nice review. I have never heard about this product, but I do use a lot of sunscreens. I would be interested in this product for its matte finish. I, too, have oily skin and most of the sunscreens I use just make the problem worse, plus increase sweat. I am anxious to see how this product will work for me.

I have a query. Normally as a good skin routine, we apply both moisturiser and sunscreen. Can we use both lacto calamine lotion and lacto sunscreen?
