I had always maintained a distance from dry/matte finish lipsticks because of my forever dry lips, but it seems its time for velvet matte lipsticks and I decided to try couple of them, and have become a matte lover since then. First it was L’Oreal Moist Matte Lipsticks then there were Lakme Absolute Sculpt Studio Lipsticks. Now Faces Canada has launched an entire range of Ultime Pro Velvet Matte Lipsticks in 12 shades.

With 8 long hours of stay, FACES Ultime Pro Velvet Matte Lipstick is feather light, offering the ultimate sophistication to your lips. Great on performance, this collection of signature lipsticks cover your lips with pure velvet in just one go, leaving them sensual and bold.

Shade – I have got Pinked Out, which is a Pink based Red. Its a beautiful color ! A nice change from regular reds. I wear it when I am going out without makeup, it keeps the look fresh and bold.

Texture & Formula – Texture of FACES Ultime Pro Velvet Matte Lipstick is velvety silky smooth. Despite of being a matte formula it doesn’t tugs or pulls lips while applying. Formula is comfortable, not overly drying or crumbly. However if I apply a lip balm underneath the longevity of the color decreases. I make sure to wipe off all the balm before applying the lipstick. It keeps lips comfortable and the formula sticks on to the lips for a longer time. The formula doesn’t settles into fine lines or looks dry even after 4-5 hours. 

Pigmentation – I would call it a medium to buildable formula. I need at least 2 swipes to get even color on the lips. If you have dark or pigmented lips, layering is necessary. However Pinked Out does cover the discoloration and evens out lips.

Staying Power – Pinked Out Ultime Pro Velvet Matte Lipstick stays on for good 5-6 hours with a little fading after 5 hours. It leaves some tint behind.

Overall Thoughts

Faces Canada Pinked Out Ultime Pro Velvet Matte Lipstick is one of my favorite shades and formulas to wear these days. It brightens up the face and gives much-needed pop of color on dull days. The formula is silky and finish is somewhat satiny in the beginning which turns into velvety matte after a while. Only hitch is the fact that the bullet breaks off the base after couple of usages, which is the case with most of the velvet matte formula !
