Clinique Even Better Concealer Orange Brightener Review

Clinique is definitely one of those high end brands which have their priorities right. Their emphasis on skin care has always awed and reassured me. And their makeup range is also quite extensive and works hard on quality and quality with certain emphasis on working on the skin first. The Clinique Even Better Concealer in Orange brightener though called a concealer is a corrector in actuality. It was one my first high end correctors, as MAC correctors looked too orange and scary to me. In general I do not have such bad dark circles, but when I am stressed and sleep deprived my dark circles become very prominent and with the pigmentation on my eyelids, it looks as if someone has punched me in the eyes. At those times I am in dire need of a product like Clinique Even Better Concealer Orange Brightener.

Product Description – Orange Brightener: Conceals, brightens. Creamy, stay- put concealer with Vitamin C. helps cover dark spots and discolorations. Skin looks brighter, more even-toned. Allergy tested. 100% fragrance free. Full buildable coverage. Natural finish. All skin types. All skin tones.

Packaging – Clinique Even Better Concealer Orange Brightener comes in a white cardboard box with pastel flower designs. The actual corrector come in a tub style frosted glass packaging with a silver screw cap. The packaging though attractive, is quite heavy and also messy considering you have to dip your brush or fingers into it to get the product out.

Also, the heaviness of the glass and the fact that its glass makes it a little difficult to travel with. The packaging is definitely attractive though.

Shade – The shade Orange Brightener is the perfect orange shade to correct the under eye darkness, which is in actuality blue or purple tint under the eyes. The shade looks alarmingly orange in the pot but it works well for those areas. This shade will work for all Indian Skin tones. Very fair ladies can also work with this by adding an appropriate shade of concealer on top.

Texture & Finish – It has a very thick, dense and creamy texture and takes a little effort to blend. You have to make sure you moisturise your under eyes properly before applying this one or it might give you a patchy application.

I tend to take it on the back of my hand, lightly spray it with a face mist, warm it with my fingers and then apply it under my eyes. Mind you, I do not dilute it or anything; I just give it a little leeway so that it’s easier to blend.

I first apply Clinique Even Better Concealer Orange Brightener with my ring finger and blend it lightly and finish off with a makeup sponge. Since it’s not overtly creamy more densely show it doesn’t leave an oily finish. Infact, it gives a matte finish. And once set with powder, it doesn’t crease either.

Pigmentation & Staying Power – It is a much pigmented product. The tiniest bit is enough to cover the entire under eye area and cancel out all the darkness. You do not need to use another layer, with the first layer itself it is completely covered. After applying the eye cream and the corrector I top it off with a very light concealer and then set it with powder.

I also used it correct the darkness around my mouth and chin and then apply foundation on top. It stays on till I remove my makeup. The longest I have worn it is upto 10 hours. It corrects and conceals all the pigmentation and gives a clean and even look to my under eyes. I also use it to balance out the pigmentation on my lids at times if I am feeling too fancy. It works well there also.

Overall Thoughts

If you have heavy under eye darkness, I certainly recommend Clinique Even Better Concealer Orange Brightener to you guys. It works well with all skin tones and covers all the pigmentation with the tiniest bit of product. It is a bit difficult to blend and work with initially. But once you get the hang of it will work beautifully for you.

The tub style packaging is definitely a disadvantage. But as a corrector it works well, gives you a very good wear time, is not oily and does not crease once set with powder. It was my favourite corrector till I came across my Bobbi Brown one, but it is not very far behind either.

The fact that it’s tested for allergy makes it a perfect choice for all skin types. Thumbs up from me for this product.
