With Holi approaching every skincare freak goes almost crazy just by thinking of all the harm holi colors will do to their skin & hair. I can very well relate to all you who are panicking now and here are my two scents on Post Holi Skin & Hair Detox tips –
Haircare Tips-
Start with applying oil onto your hair & Scalp, use a product that is nourishing like Biotique Bio Flame Of The Forest. Apply it thoroughly from roots to tips. It will form a protective coat on your hair and prevent chemicals from causing damage if applied before the festival begins.
Once you are done with all the color madness cleanse your hair , concentrating on the scalp using a gentle Hair Cleanser like Biotique Bio Green Apple Shampoo & Conditioner, followed by a hair serum or leave in conditioner of your choice. It cleanses hair & Scalp and removes any chemical, grease or color residue from your scalp/hair. Formula is very gentle yet effective. Chemicals in color strip hair off all the moisture and leave them dry & frizzy.
I sometimes apply a good hair oil after my hair gets dry and leave it on for a day/night. It restore the moisture/shine that holi colors take away. You can also keep your head covered but that hardly works for me since someone or other pours color on my head. So oiling before & After always works for me.
Start with cleansing your face with an oil based cleanser or makeup remover to get rid of color stain & residue, a product like Biotique Bio Almond Oil Soothing Face & Eye Makeup Cleanser. Its gentle and loaded with botanical extracts, perfect for the pampering that skin need after playing holi. Dab some of it on a cotton round and gently sweep it across the face, it will do half the job.
Wash off residues of oil, color & chemicals using a foaming face wash that has scrub particles in it, like Bio Papaya Exfoliating Face Wash which doesn’t scratch skin nor leaves it dry.
I love serums, their weightless formula sinks into the skin immediately leaving it soft in no time, I like Bio Dandelion Ageless Lightening Serum. Since your face has endured so much roughness don’t forget to apply a face mask, Oily skin girls can try a mud mask like Biotique Mud mask or a nourishing one for dry skin like Bio Fruit Pack. Leave it on for 15 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water.
Apply a nourishing cream like Bio Wheatgem Cream that can restore the lost moisture back to your skin. Apply a light moisturizing lotion if your skin is acne prone to prevent aggravating acne or pimples.
I also like to use a homemade ubtan mixing wheat flour & Milk cream which helps get rid of the color & dead/dry skin patches.
Don’t forget your eye area and apply a light weight non greasy eye cream. I love my skin products with some amount of SPF, so an eye cream with spf is a winner for me. You can try Bio Nectar Eye Cream or any other eye cream/gel of your choice.
Last but not the least please don’t leave your lips unattended. Apply a generous amount of lip balm, preferably a soothing & heeling one, and leave it on for as long as you can. I always reach out for Bio Aloe Vera Lip Balm for that purpose.
Pamper your skin as much as you can so that it could bounce back to its previous self without showing cracks, dry patches or dullness. I always prefer products with Botanical & Ayurvedic Ingredients so that the results show up quicker than regular skincare/haircare products.
