My Envy Box December 2015 – Review & Unboxing

My Envy Box December 2015 (Rs 850 for a single box) from myenvybox.comMy Envy Box December 2015 - Review & Unboxing (1)

There is a certain lure to subscribing to beauty boxes, you wait eagerly every month to see what goodies you have gifted yourself – hoping and crossing your fingers that you get something that is useful, some unsung hero that you can make a part of your stash or at least something value for money.

Beauty boxes in India had a few false starts with some launching and shutting down, some never taking off and some that have managed to stay in the business for more than a couple of years.   I have been a regular subscriber to most of these and have realized that I actually may not be the target audience for these Indian boxes. My Envy Box December 2015 - Review & Unboxing (2)

Based on most of the reviews I find that most Indian women want lots of makeup products, full sizes if possible – brand doesn’t really matter much.  Well, for one, I am OK with deluxe samples of brands like Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford etc.  You see what I’m getting at here.  I want a glimpse of a high end product to try out and see if I want to invest in a full size.  Something I’m not getting here.  So without further ado, I’ll list down what I got in my “meh” December envy box :

  1. Ananda Facial Moisturizer for Normal and Dry Skin Deluxe sample (Full size 50gms for Rs 1350). – I have never used this brand so I’ll give this one a try – lets see.  This is a light cream with rose and sandalwood that helps prevent early signs of aging, hydrates skin, simulates cell renewal and smoothens fine fines.  For use both at day and night.
  1. O3+ Whitening Mask 10ml (Full size 50gms, Rs 775) – No thank you to this, I’m not interested in whitening – very happy with my skin tone.  Will be passing this on.
  1. Bioderma Photoderm AKN mat SPF 30 sunblock for combination to oily skin – 2 * 5ml tubes (full size 40ml for Rs 1400) – Yes, this is definitely useful but will be good for only a couple of uses.  I got the same thing in my fabbag this time.  Will use this.
  1. Catrice Nail polish in Greyday, Greyday – Full size (Rs 445). – This is a grey nailpolish with shimmer running through.  A nice usable colour but very basic. Again something that I will use but a brand that has been featured in the box multiple times. I wish we could see another brand now
  1. Catrice Mascara Full size 12ml (Rs 660) – This is again something that is useful but not something I am looking at “discovering” through a subscription box.

So overall this box is extremely value for money for someone who is starting new with makeup or doesn’t own much already.  I realize this does not apply to me at all.  I would love to see new brands, small sizes of super expensive products – thinking La Prairie, La Mer, Chanel etc so I get to experience these.  Well, I guess I’m in the minority and the boxes are not going to change their offering anytime soon.

Overall Thoughts

Very value for money, if thats what you’re looking for.  Overall an OK box, nothing to write home about.  Guess you can’t keep everyone happy all the time.

I have stopped subscribing for the boxes, we simply get some random samples which we dont even use. Better to spend on what we like.

Sometimes I find these boxes waste of money….Atleast this one has 2-3 usable products…
