MAC has launched new shades in its Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours. I picked Topped with brandy and after using it for sometime I think its time for a review.
Packaging – MAC Retro Matte lip color comes in a short and chubby transparent tube with a brush. The shade name is mentioned at the back of the packaging. I quite like the transparent packaging as it makes it easy to pull out the shade easily when you are in a hurry.
Shade – MAC Topped With Brandy is quite a unique shade in my stash. I thought it would be just another neutral colour but it’s a mix of brown, pink and taupe. It’s a bit deep for my liking but actually suits my yellow toned NC40-41 complexion very well. I would look great on dusky skin. It can be paired with smokey eyes and a dash of a neutral blush. It looks different on different skin tones.
Pigmentation – MAC Retro Matte liquid lip color is highly pigmented and covers lips pigmentation in one swipe.
Texture & Formula – MAC Retromatte range is actually said to be overly matte and drying. However, when it comes to liquid lipsticks, they are bound to be highly matte and long lasting. With the launch of these new shades, MAC has actually improvised the formula a bit and made it not so drying like the earlier ones. Formula can be counted amongst some of the best liquid lipsticks in india.
If you have dry lips, I would suggest skipping them as it would enhance the dryness and lines. I have normal lips and am totally enjoying wearing these once in a while. Make sure you remove it completely and also exfoliate and moisturize the lips well. It applies neatly and smoothly. The finish is good and totally matte.
Staying Power – It survives a full meal and fades a bit from the center. Smudging it a little with fingers sets it back. These are much better than the Retromatte lipsticks which eventually become hard crayons.
MAC Topped With Brandy Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour is priced at Rs. 1800 available at MAC Stores and nykaa.com
Overall Thoughts:
MAC Retro Matte Liquid lip color Topped With Brandy is a neutral pink which suits medium- warm skin very well. The texture is not very drying and it stays really long. The shade range has been extended so you have more options now. Worth a pick.
