L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Smoothening and Repairing Serum Review Price Photos

Here is the detailed review of my favourite hair serum L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Smoothening and Repairing SerumL'Oreal Total Repair 5 Smoothening and Repairing Serum Review

My unruly hair needs a good and thick serum to stay manageable for the whole day. That’s why I always look out for hair serums for dry hair. L’Oreal’s Total Repair 5 is one of the best hair care range for damaged and dry hair.

My hair loved the shampoo and conditioner from this range so I tried their masque and serum a few years ago. I had really good results with the serum so I kept repurchasing from time to time.

About L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Smoothening and Repairing Serum

Enriched with revolutionary ceramide technology L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Smoothening and Repairing Serum fights against roughness, dullness, dryness and hair fall due to breakage. It keeps hair smooth and damage free.L'Oreal Total Repair 5 Smoothening and Repairing Serum Review Price Photos

Packaging: This serum comes in a tiny white plastic bottle. The cap is of bright red colour. The theme colour for L’Oreal’s Total Repair 5 range is white and red. This serum’s packaging also follows this colour combination.

The packaging is compact and spill-proof. That makes it a good choice for travel. The serum bottle also had a cardboard outer pack but I have already thrown it out.

The main claims and ingredients are mentioned in the bottle aswell as the outer box. I can easily find out the ingredients or expiry date from the bottle itself.

Colour & Consistency: The serum is a colourless clear liquid. Its texture is similar to mineral oil based light hair oils but it is a dry oil. It gets absorbed after a few minutes without leaving oily residue.

It is thicker than Livon serum. Its texture is far more nourishing than most hair serums. This product is specially designed for dry and damaged hair. L'Oreal Total Repair 5 Smoothening and Repairing Serum Review Price Photos

Fragrance: It has a light floral fragrance. The fragrance is sweet. This smell helps to counteract sweaty smell in summer and keeps the hair smelling fresh for the day.

Quantity & Price: This hair serum comes at Rs.150 for 40ml. I bought this for travel purpose so I got the smaller size. The bigger pack costs Rs.230 for 80ml. The price is okay for the quality and quantity.

Less is more with the serum. That’s why the 40ml bottle has lasted me 4 months of continuous use. If you want to buy it at even better price, check out for offers.

My Overall Thoughts:

I use this serum on freshly washed hair. I take two coin size product for my medium length hair. This dry serum oil smoothens the hair and brings a subtle lustre to my dry hair. I have wavy curly hair.

I need a heavy leave in conditioner to define my curls. I use this serum after the leave in product. It keeps the curls looking lively through the day.

My friend also tried it with me and it worked well for her dry straight hair. She also uses this serum for detangling. It reduces hair breakage.

I have also used L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Smoothening and Repairing Serum for my at-home hair spa. I mix 1/2 tablspoon serum with 2 tablespoons of my Matrix hair spa cream. This  serum increases the effects of spa mask.

The hair stays silky smooth for 2-3 days. This is a silicone based serum so I don’t take it near the scalp. Other than the silicone content this is one of the best hair serums for dry hair in both low-end and high-end range.

Rating: 4.5/5

    Thanks for the review Sreeparna!

I’ve actually been looking for a new hair serum. I’m nearly out and my hair just turns into one big frizz ball if I don’t add product after I wash it! This L’oreal one sounds perfect, I’m going to try it out. Thanks for the recommendation 🙂
