Kryolan Cake Makeup Base Review Price Photos Swatches

Kryolan is a German brand that focuses on products that are meant for television. I have tried so many products from Kryolan and so far, they have all been impressive. Especially when it comes to base makeup, I trust their products blindly as none of them have clogged pores or caused any sort of irritation on my sensitive skin. I was on the look out for a decent compact foundation as am not too much into liquids these days. I was suggested to try the Kryolan Cake Makeup.

I did some research and found that this is one of the favorite products of makeup artists working in the film industry. However, when I swatched it in the store, I was skeptical if I would practically use it. It felt light weight so I gave it a shot.

Shade – The shade I was given is FS40. I was a bit tanned when I got this, though I would have preferred a shade lighter than this. FS 40 is a neutral warm toned colour. It is neither  too yellow nor beige but has enough warm undertones and would suit medium Indian skin very wll. If you are NC42 in MAC, this would be your perfect match.

Texture & Formula – I was told that the Kryolan Cake Makeup can be used both wet and dry. I was advised to use a sponge for application. I tried using it dry like how I use any normal compact. It gave very little coverage and I am ok with that.  It does not come with any applicator so I purchased a powder puff for dry application and a sponge for wet application.

When used with a wet sponge, It gives very good coverage, almost like a liquid foundation would do. My skin is pretty good these days and I have no acne scars but I do have permanent pigmentation around my mouth which is the main reason I use foundations. This cake makeup was able to cover under eyes and pigmentation to a great extent and made the skin look flawless. Also, it does not feel heavy or look cakey.

However, for daily use, using it with a wet sponge is not practical and could be messy during travels.

Coverage – This is a two in one product that you can use based on the coverage you need.

Packaging – It comes in a big round plastic case. The quantity is huge and would last you 2 years easily. Kryolan products come with a shelf life of 3 years which is an added advantage.

Staying Power – The Cake Makeup stays put for 4-5 hours on my normal-combination skin. However, you will need a touch up on the t-zone after that.

Now the best part is that it photographs amazingly well. Skin looks flawless in photos and videos. I would highly recommend this in your bridal makeup kit. The only thing is you should know how to apply and blend it into your skin else it might look patchy here and there. If you are someone who works for the media and constantly photographed, I would say go find your right shade and pick it up. It is another winner from kryolan.

Kryolan Cake Makeup is a compact foundation that can be used wet or dry depending on the coverage needed. It photographs very well and is worth the money spent.
