I have a love hate relationship with Highlighters. I like how it lifts up cheek bones and give illusion of a healthy and glowing skin , but at the same time I dislike the shimmery texture of some of the highlighters. I had heard a lot about Essence makeup and decided to give “It’s Magic” highlighter powder that was part of Limited Edition “Circus Circus” collection that was launched last year.
I really liked the embossed circus tent on the pan. Essence Circus Circus Highlighter Powder comes in a plastic pan with a clear lid.
Shade – Essence Circus Circus Highlighter Powder is a beautiful champagne gold highlighter. I liked how it works against my medium complexion without looking ashy/ white. I have always preferred golden highlighters since they go well with warm tones.
Texture & Formula – Unlike the powder highlighters I have tried before, texture of Essence Circus Circus Highlighter Powder is very fine and smooth. Formula applies and blends smoothly without feeling gritty or chunky. It gives nice sheen without looking obvious. I don’t have large pores so can’t comment on as to whether it highlights/ emphasizes on them or not.
Pigmentation – Essence Circus Circus Highlighter Powder is very pigmented and above swatch is result of single swirl in the pan. I have to be very careful while applying since over-application is very easy.
Staying Power – Essence Circus Circus Highlighter Powder stays on for good 5-6 hours on me. I think at this price I can’t really complain about it.
Overall Thoughts
I am pleasantly surprised with the formula and pigmentation of Essence Circus Circus Highlighter Powder. Color itself is very flattering, and would look amazing on Indian/ warmer skintones. Its affordable and quality is comparable to any high end highlighter powder. Only downside is availability.

Hi Vini its a powder highlighter so shimmer is there but that’s subtle and can be worn during the day

thank you so much for quick reply!! 😀 Actually I am a student(school) and I have very dry and dull skin 🙁 so I was looking for a highlighter/ illuminator to add some life in my skin, I have one from Lakme but in bright light it make me look like discoball 🙁 . me and my friends hang out a lot in sun, I hope this one is suitable for me.
