theBalm Mary Lou Manizer Review Swatches Photos Price

In the pan Mary Lou Manizer Highlighter looks  a bit on the yellow-side, but I’d still class this as a champagne shade.

Not a while back was I an all matte, no shimmer person(well I continue to be so), but in SEPHORA(when I came home with my 1st highlighter the benefit high beam). One day did I realise that if shimmer/highlighter applied at the correct place in the appropriate amount can change the whole way you look.

I am 20, and my all matte look certainly made me look more than my age, and boy the day did I realise the PROPER use of highlighter. A single day hasn’t gone by without me using it(yes you heard it right. I have highlighter on the tip of my nose with no other makeup even during my serious anatomy classes).

I don’t apply any makeup everyday, but a highlighter is a must, and I own maybe 4 of them, and still want more.

Texture & Formula –  It does not have any glitter or shimmer particles but due to it’s extremely finely milled pigments. It gives this gorgeous sheen which is beautiful!  Mary Lou Manizer Highlighter does not accentuate open pores or any imperfections on the face but yes one needs to be careful in the amount. It is so finely milled that when you see it in the pan it almost looks like a face powder rather than a highlighter.

Pigmentation – Now this is the part, where this product is a total win win, I mean its INSANELY PIGMENTED. You literally need the tiniest possible amount all together for your cheek bones and the tip of your nose. I don’t highlight the bridge of my nose. I just dust it on my nose tip, and boy is this insanely strong highlight. Its very easy to go over  board with this product, so one needs to be super care full while picking up from  the pan.

Staying Power – The Mary Lou Manizer Highlighter stayed on me all day till I took everything off at the end of my day. I have worn it on foundation and even on bare face, and in both cases it did stay on me whole of the day. What I did notice was that after 6 to 7 hours the intensity did mar down a little, but I still had a subtle sheen till the end of day.

Overall Thoughts

theBalm Mary Lou Manizer is a multi tasker can be used as a shadow too, and is very finely milled without chunky glitter that make it oh so obvious that your wearing a highlight. In photos it just give you that perfect *INNER GLOW OF HAPPINESS*. It just catches and reflects light in as perfect manner, as perfect can be. And as it doesn’t contain any chunky shimmer so it has no fall out. So you don’t have any fear of ending up being shimmery all over, it stays intact, and just where it has to be all day, and at n point does it make you feel *OTT shimmery*.

The only thing I dislike is the availability of this product, and also for beginner’s like us its easy to go overboard with. Because it really is a very strong highlight, one needs to be very careful with the usage.

I use it whether with the real techniques setting brush or the sigma E40. When  am in a hurry I just dip in my little finger in the pan and pop the highlight softly on my nose tip. I totally recommend this highlighter to anyone looking for a good sheen on the face. As the quantity is huge and packaging is oh so sleek and portable, comes  with a perfect concave magnifying mirror that’s good for on the go.

This winter when our skin is so dry and lacks sheen, a highlighter is a good pick me up for a little glow and dimension on the face, without having to do much tricks.

Rating – 5/5
