Ever since the K-beauty products started to set foot in the Indian beauty market, I have been an avid user to their gentle skin-friendly products. These pimple clearing products often leave the skin feel dehydrated. Pure aloe vera gels felt a bit lacking for my skin so I ended up buying The Face Shop Jeju Fresh Lotus Soothing Gel.
I have been obsessed with popular glass skin trend of K-beauty and wanted to try my hands on it. I have pimple issues and that is why I have included ingredients like salicylic acid into my skin care.
This mineral oil and paraffin free gel has Lotus extract from Jeju Island of Korea as main ingredient. Here is how I feel about this face gel from The Face Shop.
About The Face Shop Jeju Fresh Lotus Soothing Gel
The Fresh Lotus Soothing Gel is a face and body soothing gel that comes from The Face Shop’s Jeju skin care line. It effectively soothes and moisturizes skin.
Features:
1. Contains 99 percent lotus from Jeju island in Korea
2. Also contain other 9 herbal extracts
3. Delivers excellent soothing and moisturizing effects
4. Free from 5 harmful chemicals; mineral oil, paraffin, talc, tar colorant and paraben
Packaging: The lotus gel comes in a bulky tub holding 285ml of product. The screw lid opens into another plastic stopper lid to prevent the spillage if the tub is shaken or kept upside down.
The packaging is kind of unhygienic as we have to dip fingers to take out desired amount of product. On the other hand, no product gets wasted. I can’t say the packaging is travel-friendly because of its inconvenient size.
Colour & Consistency: This is a transparent colourless gel with moderate thickness. The gel is slightly thicker than aloe vera gel and provides more hydration than a standard aloe gel as well.
The Face Shop Jeju Fresh Lotus Soothing Gel takes 1-2 minutes to get absorbed into the skin if applied in correct quantity. It might leave a sticky residue if too much product is used.
Fragrance: This one has a light lotus flower kind of fragrance. The fragrance is very mild and does not stay more than a minute. The smell is artificial but I still enjoy the freshening aroma.
Quantity & Price: This gel comes at Rs.490 for 285 ml. This is the only size available; no smaller travel versions. The price is definitely higher than regular aloe vera gels available in India.
But, I haven’t seen any other brand coming out with Lotus gel. The uniqueness of the product is certainly the USP of this. This product is available online with good discounts.
My Overall Thoughts:
My combination skin bends towards the dry side in cooler weather. The regular aloe gels fail to hydrate my skin properly. I can’t use too greasy moisturizers meant for dry skin as it aggravates my acne. Over the years I have solved this issue with replacing my regular moisturizer to a slightly heavier one and adding this gel to my skin care routine.
I cleanse and tone my skin just as before but instead of going straight to the moisturizer step I use this gel on the face before. I previously used aloe vera gels but those were not enough for my skin. The Face Shop Jeju Fresh Lotus Soothing Gel has slightly more intense formula and suits my skin.
This lightweight gel supplies an extra boost of moisture and provides an instant plump look. It does not induce pimples and it does not irritate the existing ones.
