Today I am going to review such a toner from The Body Shop called Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mattifying Toner.
We are living in the era of skin care consciousness. Earlier people only cared for big brand names for buying a skin care product but these days we see more and more people taking a brief glance at the ingredient list before buying even an one-time use mask sheet. A basic skin care routine needs a good quality toner.
Depending on what they do, toners are either clarifying or rehydrating. While rehydrating toners soothe the skin after cleansing, the clarifying toners help to remove the left-over oil, makeup residue from the skin. Clarifying toners are great for oily to combination skin. They balance the oilyness and keep the skin look non-greasy for long.

The Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mattifying Toner infused with potent tea tree oil, purifies and tones in one step. Use after cleansing to remove any residual traces of make-up and impurities, which can clog the pores. With shake-to-activate mattifying powders, our toner minimises the appearance of pores and leaves skin feeling clean, toned, refreshed and visibly clearer.

Packaging: This toner comes in a wild green translucent plastic bottle with flip-top cap. Since this product contains essential oils of tea tree as active ingredient, the packaging has been made with dark coloured material to secure the effectiveness of the product.
This toner is available only in 250ml bottle; no smaller size is available. The bottle is simple, sturdy and leak-proof but not travel-friendly due to big size.
Colour& Texture: The toner is basically a pale green coloured watery liquid. It looks almost colourless and transparent when poured out in small amount. This toner is made up of toning liquid and white coloured powder ingredient. The bottle needs to be shaken before using to mix the two products.
Fragrance: This toner has a mild tea tree fragrance. The fragrance does not feel heavy and does not linger long. I also have the gel face wash from the same range and the fragrance of both of these are almost same.
Quantity & Price: This cleanser is priced at Rs.695 for 250ml. This is the only size available for this product. I feel the price is a bit higher for this product since this one is not as effective as the face wash from the same range.
My Overall Thoughts:
I bought this toner along with The Body Shop’s Tea tree face wash. I thought the face wash + toner combo from same range would be more effective than only face wash. Well, I was partially correct. The face wash deeply cleanses the skin so there was no makeup or moisturizer residue for the toner to clean.
However, this one is a good pore cleansing product. It helps to prevent acne and blackheads. Though there is ‘mattifying’ in its name, the toner is not at all mattifying. It makes my face moisturized somehow. I have combination skin so the hydrating nature of this feels pleasing on the skin.
The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mattifying Toner might feel a little heavy in summer for extremely oily skin. The formula is potent but quite strong. It suits my skin really well however the presence of tea tree oil might irritate sensitive skin.
