When it comes to cruelty-free skin care products of great quality, the first name that comes in my mind is The Body Shop. Today I will be sharing my experience on the facial wash from The Body Shop Tea Tree range. This particular range is for oily blemished skin. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash Review Price Photos

Face cleansing is the first step of any skin care routine. This step makes sure that the facial skin is free from dirt, impurities, residues of makeup, sunscreen or moisturizer. Based on the formula face washes are of three types; gel based, cream based and foam based. Gel face washes are low foaming cleansers that suit oily, normal and combination skin.

The cream based face washes suit dry and dry-combination skin while the foam based oil cleansing washes are best for extremely oily skin. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash Review Price Photos

Packaging: This face wash comes in a deep green translucent plastic bottle with flip-top cap. The main ingredient of this wash is essential oil of tea tree. Essential oils tend to degrade if kept in light coloured container.

That is why the packaging has been made with dark coloured material. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash is available in big 250ml bottle. The bottle is leak-proof but not very travel-friendly due to its bulky appearance.

Colour& Texture: It is a light green coloured transparent gel wash. It is neither runny nor thick. It creates moderate amount of lather. Although it is a face wash for oily skin, it does not rip the skin off its natural moisture.

This face wash gives slight cooling feel to the skin due to the presence of tea tree oil and menthol. The formula is strong with essential oils so people with sensitive skin might feel slight irritation from it.

Fragrance: This face wash has a mild tea tree fragrance. The fragrance does not feel heavy and goes off as I wash the cleanser off my skin. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash

Quantity & Price: This cleanser is priced at Rs.645 for 250ml. This is the only size available for this product. Considering the quantity, this is certainly not a pocket-friendly face wash. Still, the price is okay for me since the quality and effectiveness is up to the mark.

My Overall Thoughts:

I have acne-prone combination skin. Due to PCOD, I often get bad acne bouts. I also have pigmented spots from healed acne. Since last year, I have completely changed my skin care. I replaced my face cleanser with this tea tree based face wash and my scrub with Neutrogena’s salicylic acid based wash.

This is a gel wash with anti-microbial properties of tea tree. Though the formula is stronger than most neem or tea tree based acne cleansers from budget-friendly category, my skin loves this wash. I just need a pea-size product to cover my face and neck so one bottle will last months for me. I generally use it in my night skin care.

It gets rid of excess oil, residue of cleansing milk, sunscreen, water-soluble makeup. It prevents acne and helps in calming down red bumps of acne. Though The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash claims to fade blemishes, I haven’t seen any change in my blemishes after using this tea tree wash for 2 months regularly.
