PackagingTarte LipSurgence Lip Luster comes in easy to use twist up stick.  There are other finishes as well in this range, matte and tints.  The caps are a little flimsy and two of mine have cracked simply by shutting the pencil with a little force.  The colour of the pencil is the same as the shade inside, making it easy to figure out when you are picking up one to use.

Shades – Tarte LipSurgence Lip Luster Flashy – Flashy is fuchsia with shimmer in it.  This is the most opaque of the lot and you get full coverage in a single swipe.

Glitzy – This one is sheer and almost nude on my lips, the shimmer is quite noticeable though.

Dazzled – Dazzled looks scary in the tube but goes on quite sheer.  It looks like you’ve just eaten an orange candy and your lips are stained with a juicy orangish coral shade.  The shimmer is the same as the other two.

Texture and FormulaTarte claims Tarte LipSurgence Lip Luster pencils are infused with Vitamin C and E and a number of good for you oils to moisturize your lips and also has anti aging as well as lip plumping effects.  The pencil itself is super soft and will melt if you carry it around in your bag.

I find these comfortable to wear, but find no noticeable moisturizing or plumping effect at all.  Infact, at the end of a day of wear, I find my lips quite dry and in desperate need of some TLC.Tarte Lipsurgence Lip Luster Flashy, Glitzy, Dazzled Review SwatchesPigmentationTarte LipSurgence Lip Luster Flashy is far more pigmented that the other two shades.  Glitzy and Dazzled both need a couple of swipes for full coverage whereas Flashy needs only one  The colour is fresh and build-able, in all three.

Staying Power – The darker shade, Flashy has a much longer staying power than Glitzy and Dazzled.  Flashy lasts on me 4 to 5 hours – it survives a cup of coffee as well as a snack.  Glitzy and Dazzled last on me for around 2 to 3 hours, fading if I have a cup of coffee in between.

Overall Thoughts

I got these Tarte LipSurgence Lip Luster before the other brands like Revlon and L’oreal launched their balms and tints.  Considering the steep price, I will definitely not be buying these again.  The product is great and I picked these up on sale, but I now have cheaper alternatives.
