Tarte Cheek Stain Flush Review Swatches

Tarte Cheek Stain (US $ 30 for 14gms) available from ebay.comTarte Cheek Stain Flush reveiw swatches photos (1)Tarte Cheek Stain Flush reveiw swatches photos (2)Tarte is a brand that was started by founder Maureen Kelly in 1999.  All their products are pure and made from natural ingredients.  All Tarte products are formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, triclosan, synthetic fragrances and gluten.

ProductThe cheek stain that I have is a mini from a larger set and is only 4.8gms as against the full size of 14gms.  Even then, I find that Tarte Cheek Stain Flush lasts for a really long time.  The product comes in a wind up plastic tube with a silver colored cap.  The colour looks extremely dark in the tube but applies quite sheer as it is a water based gel tint. Thankfully there is no shimmer or glitter.

The best part about buying a set of minis, is that the brand normally wants to showcase the most popular shades.

ShadeTarte Cheek Stain Flush is a described as a sheer berry although is looks more beetroot red in the tube.  Once applied on your cheeks, the description suits it beautifully.  It is a very lovely deep berry shade.   Once blended, the shade looks like a natural flush, ergo the name.  On my NC35 skin this looks almost like I have done an hour of exercise and my skin is glowing, exactly what I like to achieve for a natural look.

Texture and FormulaIt is very obvious that this is a water based gel type formula.  There is no creaminess at all. It feels more like a balm.  There is a very mild fruity fragrance which goes away in a few minutes of application.  The gel is really smooth and glides onto skin very easily transferring color.  The only thing you have to be careful of, is that if you use a rather heavy hand, little tiny globs of coagulated gel seem to transfer to your skin.  I have had Tarte Cheek Stain Flush for over a year and this has just started to happen, so maybe it has something to do with the age of the product. Tarte Cheek Stain Flush reveiw swatches photos (3)PigmentationAs a stain, Tarte Cheek Stain Flush is supposed to be sheer, however you can build up the intensity by swiping over a couple of times.  I find that I don’t really need more than one swipe to achieve a natural look.  If you are slightly darker, you may be able to achieve the same natural look using a couple of more layers.

Staying PowerUsed on primer and foundation, Tarte Cheek Stain Flush lasts for over 6 to 7 hours.  Once applied and set, it does not transfer to anything else.  Without primer, this lasts on me for about 3 to 4 hours, but then I have extremely greasy skin, so most makeup melts on me unless fixed.

Overall Thoughts

Tarte Cheek Stain Flush is a must have in my make up stash for achieving a perfect natural look.  It is on the expensive side however, as Tarte has recently reduced the quantity by half and kept the price the same.  I would definitely re purchase if there is a deal, else I can substitute this with Benetint without much pain.
