Of late I have been into matte lipsticks. They are long staying and offer a nice finish which works for both work & party. I have tried and love Breaking Bare & Peachy Little Liars from Sugar and thought of picking some more shades. This time my choices were – That 70s Red, The Big Bang Berry.
Packaging is nice and classy. Black matte case with shade name printed on the body. These are long & sleek.
Shades – Sugar has launched two new shades – That 70s Red & Peachy Little Liars. Initially I wasn’t that keen on picking the Red shade since I am hardly using red these days. But it looked quite bright and the fact that I love the formula of these lipsticks pushed me into buying it.
That 70s Red is a bright red, with warm tones
The Big Bang Berry , true to its name the shade is a deep berry color. Perfect for winter/fall season.Texture & Formula – I love the creamy but not slippery texture of these lipsticks. Whether you have applied a lip balm or not, these will glide on effortlessly. You can see the creamy finish for initial 15-20 minutes and after that these set in a nice semi-matte finish.
Both Sugar That 70s Red & The Big Bang Berry don’t settle into lip lines. The bullet it blunt hence you have to be careful while applying them. Using a matching lip liner prevents the colors from feathering , also the application looks neater & precise. I have dry lips but none of them make it uncomfortably dry.
The formula isn’t crumbly or drying.
Pigmentation – Both the shades are very pigmented. I have pigmented lips and both of them conceal the darkness and offer a nice even opaque finish. The Big Bang Berry is my favourite since the color is quite deep and compliments my skin tone.
Staying Power – These stay on for good 5-7 hours on me. The berry shade leaves a nice deep tint behind.
Sugar That 70s Red, The Big Bang Berry It’s A Pout Time Vivid Lipsticks are priced at Rs 599 each, available online
Overall Thoughts
I quite enjoy Sugar It’s A Pout Time Vivid Lipsticks because of their comfortable formula and good staying power. I would love to see them expanding the color range and getting more shades. I can’t stop wearing The Big Bang Berry these days and sometimes apply a layer of Breaking Bare on the top of it to tone the color down a bit.
