I feel foundations are one of the most important aspects towards achieving a good look. If you can get your base right, you can work with the rest. I like my foundations to be sheer to medium coverage. I do not like full coverage foundations, they make me feel itchy, uncomfortable and I feel as if my skin is not able to breathe. I most often look for foundations which are lightweight. I picked this one up based on those qualities. I have been using Shiseido Sheer & Perfect Foundation for two years now, and I absolutely love it. I will be getting my second bottle soon.

Packaging – Shiseido Sheer & Perfect Foundation comes in red and black cardboard box with the name and description in white. The actual product comes in a beige shade plastic bottle with a black screwcap and a nozzle opening on the inside, which is perfect for dispensing the product. I love the packaging. It is so lightweight and sleek, that it’s my first option to carry while travelling. The nozzle is again a plus. It helps in getting out tiny amount of product at a time and doesn’t get messy at all. You can even throw it into your handbag while travelling without the fear of any spillage or leaking at all. Overall love the packaging.
Shade – It comes in about 8 shades in India, I think. I chose the shade O60 for myself, which is ‘Natural Deep Ochre’. It’s a bit dark for me, but I can get away with it since it is a sheer formula and it works well when I have a tan in summers.

Texture & Finish – This foundation has a lightweight, thin and runny consistency. You need to shake the bottle well before dispensing the product. Once slightly blended it feels like it has a very light gel based creamy texture. Once completely blended, it sinks into the skin and disappears, giving the skin a more even and velvety finish. It is dewy without being greasy. As claimed, it blurs the pores and lines, covers the redness, light pigmentations and light blemishes.
Shiseido Sheer & Perfect Foundation gives the skin an even tone with a glow. It feels like ‘my skin but better’. Even when you see closely you cannot see the foundation on your skin, nor feel it when you touch. It settles and sinks beautifully into the skin and makes your skin look luminous. It has a velvet satin finish. You don’t need to set it with powder unless you have very oily skin. It has a light make up like fragrance, but it fades away after a few minutes.
Coverage & Pigmentation – As the name suggests, it is a sheer but perfect foundation. It covers the redness and the mild blemishes and dark spots, and blurs the pores and lines. But for heavy blemishes and dark circles you need a separate concealer. Which is completely fine with me coz I look for a foundation to even out my skin tone and pores, which this does perfectly and leaves my skin looking dewy and fresh. Pigmentation wise it is sheer and it is buildable upto medium. Even after two layers of foundation, it doesn’t look cakey or made up. It looks very natural.
I find the best way to apply this foundation is with your fingers. I lightly dot the foundation and blend it with my fingers. If I feel like adding a bit more coverage I take a bit more and build it up. It gives me an even and velvety finish. My skin looks very natural and skin like just a much better version of it. For covering my dark circles I use a separate concealer.

Staying Power – I just dust my t-zone with a little powder and it stays on, on my skin easily for 6 hours. It doesn’t melt off in the summers, nor does it transfer. I am quite happy with the staying time.

Overall Thoughts
Shiseido Sheer & Perfect Foundation is a perfect for people who do not have any major skin issues or very dark pigmentation. It is a sheer, light weight foundation which gives you a natural looking skin. It evens out your skin tone, blurs your pores and fine lines, covers the redness and mild blemishes and spots and gives your skin a dewy velvety skin like finish which looks very fresh. It allows your skin to breathe freely without feeling like a mask on your skin. It gives your skin my skin but better look.
It is definitely a sheer but perfect foundation, coz your skin feels perfect once you apply it. Oily skinned beauties can also wear this; they just need to set the foundation with powder. It is lightweight in application and also in make; hence it’s very travel friendly. The nozzle type packaging helps in the ease of getting the right amount of product out for each application. It is one of my go to foundations year round and I am going to be getting my second bottle soon. It is pricey but it stands up to all its claims, so I can overlook that. I love this foundation. I love it more than my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua and MAC Face & Body foundation.
