Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Galaxy and Light Year (INR 475/- for 5.5 ml) is available at Rimmel counters and online. What Rimmel Says: It’s the End of Colour as you know it! The intense rich colour of a lipstick, enhanced by a satin smooth shine. It’s neither a lipstick nor a gloss… It’s BIGGER than both! You can click on the names to see previously reviewed shades Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Nova, Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Apocaliptic and Stellar.
Packaging: A tube of black and the color of the lip lacquer with the words APOCALIPS written in bold letterings contain the product. A doe-foot wand applicator makes it easy to apply it over my lips.
Shade: Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Galaxy is a lovely shade of mauve-based dark pink, with a tiny bit of shimmer which really brings out the color and stops it from making it look dark and unattractive. This color is great at any time for me, and will suit virtually anyone from fair to medium toned skin. Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Light Year, on the other hand, is a lovely nude brown with a hint of pink and with a very faint bit of shimmers which does not get over the top at all – perfect for summer afternoons and the times when I want to put more emphasis on the eyes and less on my lips. This is great for anyone who is under NC 43 in MAC skin tone, I daresay. I won’t recommend this color for darker skins, unless you swatch it, try it out and find it appealing.
Texture and Pigmentation: I have to give full marks to Rimmel for both texture and pigmentation. Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers are called lip lacquer, and boy, they have wonderful pigmentation. I have noticed that I don’t need more than one swipe on my lips for this to go semi-opaque and the doe-foot applicator spreads the product out perfectly. It sets nicely on my lips and stays there without budging for a while. It does not make me feel uncomfortable wearing it, and does not dry out my lips. That said, my lips aren’t very dry, so dry lips might have problem with this. Staying Power: Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Galaxy stays on my lips for quite some time. It lasts about 4-5 hours easily on my lips if I don’t eat or drink, and fades to a lovely pink tint. It also leaves a light bit of shimmers which stick to my lip lines, so I have to touch it up once every 3-4 hours. On the other hand, Light Year does not last more than 3 hours on my lips but it does not leave any shimmers as well. Maybe it’s the color, or the texture – I don’t know, but it doesn’t. However, it does not leave any tint or shimmers, so I am somehow more comfortable using it.
Overall Thought
Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer is a good bargain for the price – they are quite hydrating, there are a number of nice shades to pick from and their texture and pigmentation is very good – they are more long-lasting than any average lip gloss and has much better pigmentation. I would recommend these, and the other colors from the range.
