I was never a lip liner person and steered clear of it until neutral lip fever hit me. Now I wear all the available tones of neutral lip colors and sometimes there are some formulas that tend to slip out of lip lines and that’s where a lip liner comes into the picture. I purchased Revlon Plum (665) Colorstay Lip Liner ages ago, around 5 months ago when it was launched, but never got around reviewing it.

Shades – There are 4 shades available in Revlon Colorstay range. Its not a new launch, but a relaunch of their old colorstay lip liners. The packaging & formula is said to be different and upgraded one. I bought Plum which goes really well with all my neutral lipsticks. I don’t wear washed out nude lipsticks so this color adds much needed touch-of-life back into those peachy nude lipsticks. The shade is dark and if blended nicely, works with almost all the neutral brown lipsticks I have.

Texture & formula – The texture of this lip liner is moderately creamy. I don’t like very creamy lip liners because they defeat the whole purpose of lining lips. I like slightly dry texture so that they could keep the lipstick within the lip lines. Revlon Plum Colorstay Lip Liner glides on smoothly even when you haven’t applied lip balm and blends quickly. This shade is good for medium to deeper complexions to be used on its own on with a lipstick.

The shade is quite pigmented and one stroke delivers solid color. I don’t really have to go over and over and the color is pigmented enough to pack punch in single stroke. Staying Power is also good and it stays on for good 5-6 hours. I generally apply lip liners after applying the lipstick so that I don’t end up with only lip liner at the end of the day.

Overall Thoughts

Revlon Plum Colorstay Lip Liner has a nice formula, texture and pigmentation. However the price tag is too steep for a lip liner as the quantity doesn’t justify it. The shade is good for everyday or lining lips while applying neutral or brownish pink lipsticks. It blends easily and prevent lipsticks from feathering.
