Revlon Electric Chrome Collection Lipgloss, Nail Polish review

Revlon The Amazing Spiderman 2 limited Edition Lip Gloss (550 for 3.8 ml) and Nail Polish (295 for 14.7 ml) Revlon The Amazing Spiderman 2 Lip Gloss Electro-Shock Spidey Sense Review Swatches (4)Revlon Says: Electrify your look. Limited edition lip shades and nail shades with glowing glass pearls for a luminous effect, inspired by the year’s hottest film, The Amazing Spider-Man 2™.Revlon The Amazing Spiderman 2 Lip Gloss Electro-Shock Spidey Sense Review Swatches (1)Packaging: The packaging of the products is very similar to their normal range, except for the fact that a golden web is etched on the long handled black applicator top of both the lip gloss and nail polish and you’ll have to unscrew the top to get to the products.

Revlon Lip Gloss Shade: Revlon Lip Gloss Electro-Shock is actually a very light blue shade with blue and silver shimmers which are not over the top, although in the tube the color does look very scarily navy blue. It has got virtually no pigmentation, I must say, acting almost like a clear gloss, but since it has a wee bit of blue, making most of lipsticks look slightly cooler in tone than normal, which for me at least is a nice thing to happen.

Texture and Formula: The gloss is very moisturizing, slightly, but not too sticky, and applies beautifully with the doe-foot applicator. Revlon Lip Gloss Electro-Shock is sheer on my lips with subtle glitters, which makes it very easy to wear on top of a lipstick. The formula spreads evenly, is not runny and do not bleed. It does not dry out the lips, and does not settle in fine lines. There is no discernible smell or taste, a fact that I like.

Lasting Power: The shade stays on my lips for roughly three hours. After that, it goes away, but the shimmers remain. It goes away completely if I eat a meal. It is a good idea to use a makeup remover to get rid of all the shimmers at the end of the day.Revlon The Amazing Spiderman 2 Lip Gloss Electro-Shock Spidey Sense Review Swatches (2)Revlon Nail Polish Shade: Revlon Nail Polish Spidey Sense is a gorgeous cool-toned red with pink and red shimmers. The shimmers make this shade look absolutely stunning, and the effect is very impressive. One coat is not enough though – in the photographs, I am wearing two coats, and they have been on for a good 3 days on my fingers.

Texture and Formula: The texture of the nail paint is very smooth and it is very easy to apply since it is slightly runnier than most other nail paints. This is a great thing, since I did not encounter any bubbling or uneven application. Revlon Nail Polish Spidey Sense applied smoothly, and went mostly opaque after one coat, but to be on the safe side I applied two coats. Within 15 minutes, the nail paint dried out, and then settled down on my nails.Revlon The Amazing Spiderman 2 Lip Gloss Electro-Shock Spidey Sense Review Swatches (3)Lasting Power: The beauty of the nail paint is in the lasting power. Like most of Revlon’s nail paints, this one did not chip on my nails at all for the first three days of wearing. Then it showed slight signs of wear and tear, but the formula is quite good, and after washing and cleaning (I did housecleaning this weekend), the nail paint chipped slightly on my right hand. I removed the polish from one finger, and did not encounter the dreaded “yellow nail syndrome”.

Verdict:
Lip gloss – 3.5/5
Nail Paint – 4.5/5

Overall Thought: Although the range is limited edition, I do hope that they make at least the nail paints part of the permanent range. The colors are really gorgeous and stand out, and the finish is fabulous. On the other hand, I am slightly indifferent about the lip gloss, although it started off with a lot of promise – I wish the color was slightly darker – and veering very slightly towards purple (I was expecting something similar to what I see in Lady Gaga videos, and ended up getting a mostly transparent lip gloss, albeit with very cool blue shimmers).
