After desperate search for a moisturizing velvet finish lipstick , I picked up a lipstick from the brand ‘Revlon’ from their colorstay ultimate suede collection which looked quite promising to me  since it claims a velvety soft finish as its in cooperated with shea butter and aloe and is long lasting as well , so well why not ?? lets see how well Revlon Backstage Ultimate Suede Lipstick worked on me.

Packaging – Revlon Backstage Ultimate Suede Lipstick has a see through plastic cap on upper part and the lower part of the tube color  is according to lipstick shade. It is great that you don’t need to swatch to see the color of the lipstick .As I always loved  Revlon packaging  but this time I am not impressed with its not so flattering packaging  . Because of plastic cap of the lipstick  as when you take the lid off and shoot the lipstick up to apply. you have 100 percent chances of lipstick staining the plastic cap while closing  it which I don’t like at all .

Shade – I selected the shade ‘ backstage ‘ from this range as it appeared as warm wine color  on the tube but its actually a deep red or merlot color  shade. Basically  don’t trust the tube color as the actual color of the lipstick and the packaging shade differs a little ..

Texture & formula – As written ‘suede ‘ on the lipstick tube I completely had different picture in my mind .They  have more like a lip balm buttery  texture  initially but after few minutes the lip balm effect vanishes.

It totally transforms into a matte stain finish .I  dint liked this transformation as it made my dry lines appear more .The moisturizing effect on fresh application felt much better on the lips .

Pigmentation – Revlon Backstage Ultimate Suede Lipstick has average pigmentation , I had to do multiple strokes on my lips to get the color out of it and to even the application on my lips .

Staying power – It survived  on my lips 4 hours with meals and water. However post meal the lipstick from the middle of my lips was vanished and I was left with the rest of color at outlines of my lips. Therefore this lipstick goes patchy and flakes off  . I was thinking “why Revlon why??”

Overall Thoughts –

I would love to state that I didn’t have any discomfort after the initial application Revlon Backstage Ultimate Suede Lipstick just felt like a smooth lip balm and once it turns matte it just makes dry lines appear. One needs to moisturize their lips well before application .

I am not going to repurchase it as I dint liked the pigmentation and staying power of this Revlon range. Only thing  tolerable  was the  initial texture and the shade .
