Reasons Why Yogurt is a Skin Must-have

A person’s skin is a reflection of his or her hygiene, discipline and dedication to skin care. In many cultures, having youthful and glowing skin is their pride and joy. Who does not want to get glowing skin anyway? Skin discoloration or problems are regarded as issues that need to be solved. Even though aging skin is a natural phenomenon, everybody makes every possible effort on their part to make it easier to change the color of the face and hide the signs of aging.

Reasons Why Yogurt is a Skin Must-have

People have the impression that skin care is costly and that’s why they are afraid to do it on a daily basis. Buying Belif creams can help your skin look radiant, bright and beautiful.

But did you know that glowing skin can easily be attainable with the use of a few ingredients that are found at home? A few of the skin favorites are honey, baking soda, and lemon, but did you know that yogurt is also a good natural skin food?

Yogurt, when consumed, is good for your health, skin, and bones. It is one of the most consumed snacks by people who are on a strict diet. Adding yogurt on any fruit or vegetable shake would enhance its nutritional value.

Yogurt shake mixed with vegetables is a staple for people who are health-conscious but don’t have a lot of time for meal preparations. It’s basically a super meal packed into one small container, and it’s delicious, as well.

Yogurt Applied on Face and Neck

Aside from eating yogurt, its benefits can be found in its application. The yogurt curd is a good natural remedy for a lot of skin issues such as dryness, unsavory color, and acne. Yogurt works as a natural moisturizer on the skin.

It returns hydration and softens the skin when applied to the desired area. In fact, the lactic acids present in the curd acts like a facial mask on the skin and reveal the beauty of the skin under the dirt.

Applying seasonal fruit juice like carrot, cucumber, papaya with yogurt on the face will enhance the skin. Citrus and yogurt create a fine balance of acid and base that is good for the skin.

Mixing lemon juice with yogurt curd on the face and neck makes your skin feel fresh and rejuvenated. You will notice the changes after a few days.

Massaging with sour curd will also help in removing blackness behind the neck. Sour yogurt or sour curd also helps in removing acne problem. Wash your face with warm water, apply sour curd on your problem area, leave for a few minutes and rinse off. Use sour yogurt while the problem persists, but it’s very important to remember that acne prevention and removal needs proper rest as well.

A mixture of a half cup of yogurt, a teaspoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of olive oil, when applied to a face washed with lukewarm water, smoothens and removes the roughness of your skin texture.

Yogurt acts as a natural moisturizer on your skin, and it has a lot of benefits especially when added to a mask or cream. Yogurt, when mixed with gram flour, works as a night cream that helps in the removal of stains, wrinkles, dead skin from your face.

Yogurt on Hair and Nails

Yogurt not only enhances the beauty of face and neck, but it also nourishes the hair and nails. When consumed daily, it helps in the clearing of the skin and health of your fingernails and hair tips. When mixed with collagen drinks, yogurt can also assist in the production of beautifying hormones for the aging skin.

Aside from the benefits from consumption, yogurt can also be applied on the hair, along with egg whites and virgin coconut oil as a natural conditioner. Yogurt can be mixed with any commercial conditioner to add volume and bounce to your hair. Apply yogurt twice a week to enhance the life of your hair.

Yogurt as a Natural Skin Care Ingredient

While yogurt may not be one of the most popular organic treatments as opposed to honey, oatmeal, and cucumber, it’s slowly getting recognition and popularity by beauty bloggers who want to try natural ways for healthy skin.

Ingested or applied, yogurt is undoubtedly one of the dark horses in the organic beauty competition; but it’s also the one with the most number of health benefits in the long run. It’s also safe for daily use, unlike some of the skincare alternatives that you should use sparingly.

Yogurt is a great alternative to a lot of expensive creams. However, some people might be allergic to yogurt so it’s always best to consult a dermatologist before application. If unsure, you can always try a skin patch test on your arm or do a taste test before mixing it in any meal.

I love using yoghurt mixed with oats and besan. It gives an instant skin lightening effect. Also I like using it as a hair mask as it makes hair smooth and straighter..

This is what my mom has been telling me all my life too! In fact, thanks to her, I got in the habit of applying a mix of yogurt + turmeric + sandalwood powder everyday on my face, all through my college going days. And I did not have a single day of acne/blemish or any kind of skin problem my friends were going through. Of course, college ended, job started and in all the hectic lifestyle, I forgot my mom’s teaching and lo and behold, now I have acne popping up, blemishes here and there. This article has reminded me of those good days. Am gonna start using yogurt in my skin care routine again 🙂
