Real Techniques Starter Set Review

Real Techniques Starter Set (£20.99) available at iherb and lookfantasticReal Techniques Starter Set (1)Real Techniques Starter Set (2)The Starter Set includes 5 full-size brushes + case

  1. base shadow brush: applies a smooth, flawless foundation of color
  2. deluxe crease brush: soft, oversized design for effortless contouring
  3. accent brush: designed for precision detailing, spotlighting, highlighting, and smudging
  4. pixel-point eyeliner brush: tapered cut is ideal for dense or fine eyeliner application
  5. brow brush: distinctive shape easily defines eyebrows
  6. and panoramic brush case is a 2-in-1 case + stand

Each brush in the kit is incredibly soft and smooth and I feel that all the brushes in the kit are multi-purpose. The purple handle and fibre grip makes it easy to handle and play with the brushes. Lets begin with the brushes one by one –Real Techniques Starter Set (3)Deluxe Crease brush-

This brush is a nice fluffy, thick crease brush. This one is just perfect for contouring and blending out the colors. I think those who have big eyes will simply love this brush. You can also highlight the bridge of your nose with this brush or contour with the bronzer/ contour powder.Real Techniques Starter Set (4)Base shadow brush

This brush is actually a dupe of Sigma’s E 25 brush. This can be use to simply tap your eye shadow on the lids or blend seamlessly. Because it is flat and fluffy, blending is a piece of cake with this brush and this brush is my absolute favourite from the set.Real Techniques Starter Set (5)Accent brush

Next we have is the accent brush, this brush is great to highlight the inner corner of your eyes. You can also apply, blend and smudge eyeshadow on your lower lash line using it. It can also be used as a lip brush.Real Techniques Starter Set (6)Pixel-point eyeliner brush

Although this brush is named an eyeliner brush but frankly speaking I don’t see myself using it for that purpose. I need my eyeliner brush to be fine, as I prefer applying thin eyeliner most of the time. However, this brush is great for applying gel eyeliners or to work with cream/wet eye shadows.Real Techniques Starter Set (7)Brow brush

The brow brush is little thick but since I have thick eyebrows. Its perfect for me, you can also use this brush to apply smudged eyeliner or create that perfect smokey brown eyes. I use it on daily basis and think I need no another brush for doing my brows.

Now coming on to pros and cons

What I love-

  1. 5 make up brushes in 1 kit
  2. 2 in 1 case + stand
  3. Multipurpose use
  4. Soft and smooth taklon bristles
  5. 100% cruelty free
  6. Affordable
  7. Trendy packaging
  8. Dries up quickly
  9. Case stand makes it travel friendly
  10. All brushes named and not numbered
  11. Base shadow brush is a dupe of Sigma E25 brush.
  12. None of the brushes shed for even once

Improvements-

  1. Availability in India (though you can get it from iherb or lookfantastic.com)
  2. The brushes come in a kit and they don’t sell them individually.

Overall Thoughts

I simply love Real Techniques brushes. They are one of the best quality brushes with unique packaging. Not like the old school black or white brushes. The best part is they dry easily after wash. And can be carried any time anywhere because of the 2 in 1 case +stand. Having said that, Real Techniques brushes is an every girl’s dream in the world of blog-o-sphere. No matter what brushes you currently own, if you don’t have even a single brush from Real Techniques, you don’t know what you are missing in life. I use my starter set everyday. The brushes inspire me to create various look. The only downside is the availability. Had it been available in India, it would sell like hotcakes. 😀
