Real Techniques Nics Picks Make Up Brush Set (Rs 2599) Flipkart

I don’t do things in half measure, when I think of buying brushes, I go all crazy and buy sets of multiple brushes.  Real Techniques Nics Picks Make Up Brush Set is my second set of Real Techniques brushes that I picked up recently.

Packaging – A set of 5 brushes in a cardboard box with a plastic cover.  The back cover of this has a list of the brushes included and their intended use.  I find this really handy to use and I have cut out that bit of the plastic to store before getting rid of the cardboard box.

Real Techniques Nics Picks Make Up Brush Set

This is a set of 5 brushes, limited edition that unlike the other Real Techniques brushes, all have silver handles.  The rest of the brush is the same with a large rubberized base that is flat making it easy to stand on in the middle of make up application.

For some reason each brush feels a bit lighter than the other Real Techniques ones that I own.

Duo-Fiber Face Brush – for lightweight application + blending of face powder or pigments

This brush is a duo fiber one and feels very differernt from the rest.  The hair is not very dense and it seems rather sparse.  It doesnt pick up too much powder and application is a bit of a challenge.  This is my least favourite Real Techniques brush.

Cheek Brush – evenly applies makeup across cheekbone for a more dramatic finish.

As indicated, this does pick up more powder than your normal cheek brush as this is much more dense than other blush brushes. It feels like a softer, more rounded buffing brush.  The shape is unique and it does apply the blush in a cleaner sweep.  I like this a lot for evening makeup. This brush is a set exclusive.

Angled shadow brush – perfectly cut for layering eye shadow in the crease. 

A great shadow brush perfectly cut for layering in the crease.  The brush picks up a large amount of powder shadow and is perfect for adding more layers to incrase intensity. Another one of the 3 of the sets exclusive brushes. 

Base Shadow Brush – applies a smooth, flawless foundation of colour.

A good shadow brush a always a nice thing to have in your staple.  It is versatile and works well with adding a base colour in a steady manner.  It is small enough to give you good control whilst adding on colour by patting.

Eyeliner Brush – firm, angled head for optimal control along lash line.

An angled liner brush that looks a lot like the eyeliner brushes that come with the gel eyeliners.  The brush head is really tiny and looks a bit out of proportion with the full sized handle.  It is firm and holds well – application of gel liner is easy and gives you enough control for a straight line.  This brush is a set exclusive.

Overall Thoughts

Real Techniques Nics Picks Make Up Brush Set is again a very good Value for Money, but not something that you cant live without.  It is good but not as fantastic as the other basic core Real Techniques collection brushes.   I like 3 out of these a lot but there are other brushes in my stash that do a good job in those areas as well.

I am overall happy with this set but not sure you’ll find use if you already have a ton of brushes.  On the other hand, if you don’t have too many brushes, this is definitely a good place to start.
