Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (3)

Optimise your beauty routine with this 3-in-1 multi-functional sponge by Real Techniques. The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge versatile design evenly blends makeup for a smooth, enhanced finish. A great look starts with a flawless base.

  • Rounded sides blend large areas of the face with a repeated dabbing or “stippling” motion.
  • Precision tip covers blemishes and imperfections.
  • Flat edge contours around the eyes and nose.

Ever since I started watching Youtube videos, Pixiwoo sisters have been my favorite gurus. When they launched their makeup brushes , I purchased them and the quality has impressed me. I always wanted to try “Miracle Complexion Sponge” and purchased it recently during holiday sale at Feelunique.

Beauty Blender has taken makeup world by storm. People have been trying to find an affordable dupe to it and lots of brands have also introduced their version of cheap Beauty Blenders/ makeup sponges. I can’t do a comparison as I don’t have Beauty Blender or any makeup sponge for that matter.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge has a distinct shape, flat from one side and pointy at other end. I use flat side to apply and blend foundation & concealer and it works really well. I hardly use pointy side as flat side works well in under eye area as well.

I soak Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge in water, squeeze it and keep it aside for 5 minutes before I start makeup. That ways excess water gets evaporated. I take out some foundation on the back of my hand, pick some using the damp sponge and dab it on my face. You should always use damp sponge or else it will drink up the foundation and wouldn’t go smooth.

You can dab/pat the foundation using sponge on your face to get heavy coverage and sweep it across for a lighter coverage. I have used Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge for applying cream and liquid foundations and it works amazingly in both the cases.

I always prefer using Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge over a foundation brush since it makes application and blending swift. I don’t need more than 2 minutes to apply my foundation & concealer and blends everything. You can use the pointy side to apply setting powder under your eyes to set the concealer.

Lets talk about the flaws

– After using the sponge for almost a month now, it has stained, even when I make sure to wash it after every use. You can see current state of the sponge in above picture.

– Sponge is too soft, I almost tore it while washing it for the first time. If you have long nails, be very careful while washing & squeezing it.

– Availability, Indian customers can buy it only through online shopping sites.

Overall Thoughts

I am in love with Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. It has made foundation & concealer application so easy and quick. Now I don’t really have to keep on blending the foundation to get rids of streaks, it helps in achieving smooth finish in 2-4 minutes. I am already planning to get a back up since the sponge is too soft and can get ripped very quickly.

Sounds nice. Have been wanting to try the Beauty Blender, but find it a little expensive for a sponge. Will definitely give this one a try.
