Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Cream For Stretch Marks Review

My mother wanted a stretch marks reducing cream so I got ahead and purchased Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula massage cream for stretch marks as I was impressed by their moisturizing lotion. She wanted lesser visible marks in her arm as she became conscious of wearing half-sleeved blouses. For as far as pregnancy marks are concerned, I did not expect any cream to work wonders for such intense stretch marks, nor did she. Yet still the cream claims of healing pre and post pregnancy stretch marks. Let us see how this cream fared in reducing stretch marks.

Product claims- It helps reduce the appearance of stretch arks with a unique blend of pure cocoa butter, vitamin E, shea butter and BioC-Elaste which is a powerful combination of collagen, elastin, centella asiatica, sweet almond oil and argan oil. This rich cream concentrate helps improve elasticity and suppleness of stretching skin during and after pregnancy. Ideal for stretchmarks prone areas such as tummy, hips, thighs and bust. Also recommended for stretch marks associated with weight fluctuations. With regular use, skin elasticity improved in 97% of the test subjects. It is hypoallergenic- paraben free and phthalate free- dermatologists tested.

Directions for use- Using a circular motion, gently apply the cream in the stretch marks prone areas. Use 3 times a day or as often as possible.

Packaging- The cream is contained in a long white tube with blue and brown writings on it. The lid is sturdy hence perfect for travelling. I received a 25% bonus package with 156gms of product as against the usual quantity of 125 gms.

Texture- The cream is very thick and oily. It is greasy and does not absorb well into the skin. It is a massage cream hence it has to massaged well into the skin, but even after that a slight greasiness remains. As it is meant for the parts which are generally covered in clothes, it surrounds the area with a thick oily coat which does not allow air to come in contact with the skin. This makes you sweat and feel uncomfortable. The sweat along with the smell of the cream gives rise to bad body odour in turn. The scent is of cocoa butter, but there is a very synthetic base smell to it which is a big turn off for me. I prefer products that are fragrance free or come with a mild scent. All in all, it becomes a messy business. A greasy cream, 3 times around your private parts, on a humid summer day? No one takes such a risky plunge!

Efficacy- My mother followed the instructions for about 2-3 months in the winter, after which she gave up as the recovery was really slow and also it was getting difficult for her to bear with the sweat and oiliness the cream gave birth to. I noticed a little bit of fading of the marks which is not too prominent or noticeable. But maybe one can hope that 6 months or more of usage may lead to satisfactory result. But if we fail to try then how do we tell, eh? But one thing my Mom assured, that whatever pain may it inflict in the summers, Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Cream is an excellent moisturizer for the dry winter months!

Overall Thoughts

If Palmer’s thought of launching a stretch marks reducing cream in India with that formula, they should do better! In a tropical country like India we need light-weight products that seep into the skin. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Cream is such a thick healing cream, most of us would fail to keep their schedules straight as heat and humidity is the ruling factor here, no matter how much we hate it!

Ratings- 2.8/5
