Online Shopping Experience – Groupon India Review

I am sure all of you have noticed launch of many coupon sites in past 1 year. I  always wanted to try available Beauty deals in India but was not sure how authentic those product/ services would be. But when contacted by Groupon Team I immediately agreed since Groupon has global presence and is a trusted name worldwide.

Launched in April 2011, Groupon (formerly Crazeal) features one daily deal on the best things to do, see, eat, and buy across India. A part of GROUPON Inc. – the big daddy of deals on the internet – we are big on fun, but take our business very seriously at the same time.

A Look at the website

One thing I liked about the Groupon Website is that its clutter free. I was able to browse through it easily. One can look at the deals available in their city by using the drop down menu on the top left side.

Just below the City menu you can find further classification of available deals by Location, shopping, travel and all.  From there you can look at the options and decide what suits you best.

At first I only saw couple of major cities there and thought that their deals are not available for all the cities across India, but scroll down and you will find a box where you can enter the city name to find relevant deals.

Steps Involved –

Choose the deal -> explore it further -> if liked hit ‘buy now’ -> Select the offer you liked the most -> Choose the mode of payment -> a voucher will be sent through mail

My Experience

I tried two deals, One was a Spa package and Ed hardy Paula Grande White Leopard Handbag. I ordered the handbag online on 19th March and received a confirmation mail in next 5 minutes. I was supposed to receive the bag within 10 days. The Bag was for Rs 2200, I paid Rs 2100 through the Groupon Credit and chose to pay rest 100 at the time of delivery (COD).

The package reached me on 26th March. The courier/ delivery boy asked for whole Rs 2200 since this was what mentioned on the package. I immediately called up the customer care and reported the issue. The Associate asked me to either accept the package by paying whole amount (They would have later credited it back to my account) or send it back. I chose to send the parcel back. That associate assured me that they will resolve the issue and get the same delivered back in next 2 days.

When I didn’t receive my order till 29th, I called up the Groupon customer care again and explained the issue. The associate was very attentive and listened to the whole goof-up and told me that due to some issues my complaint was not registered last time !! That came as a shock to me and I was really annoyed, I asked him to take care of the issue and keep me informed. He assured me that the delivery will be made within 3 days. I must say that i was very impressed with the way Groupon team kept me informed about the whole dispatch and delivery of my bag later. As promised my bag reached me in next 3 days. 

I love leopard prints 🙂 I must tell you this bag is super gorgeous !!!

What I liked

1. Easy to browse through website. All the options are easy to locate and use.
2. Numerous deals and crazy discounts on food, shopping, travel, health and beauty.
3. Deals available for over 16 cities.
4. Prompt customer service with an impressive follow up.

What could have been improved

1. I would have loved to see more shopping deals.
2. The toll free number which comes in the mail confirmation hasn’t been updated. Though on website it has been updated.

Overall Experience

I had a nice experience with Groupon except that COD goof up, but i really liked how quickly that issue was resolved and followed up promptly. A good customer service is always appreciated and ensures customer loyalty. I would recommend Groupon to all the shopaholics. I will definitely repurchase from them soon.
