HD Finishing powders are such a rage in makeup industry that everyone feels a compulsion to own one or their makeup wouldn’t looks as good as it should. I have Laura Mercier Loose powder which is a god send product for my dry under eye area, apart from it I don’t own any HD Finishing powder. For setting under eye makeup I sometimes use Ben Nye Banana Powder or Kryolan Translucent Setting Powder, but we all know loose powders can be extremely messy and finding a pressed version was surprising ! I picked NYX HD Finishing Powder Banana some two months ago and have been using it off & on since then.
The powder comes in a plastic black round case with a clear lid. The lid has product name printed on it. You get about 8 g of product in there which is quite good.
Shade – Now what a banana powder does, the yellow tinge in the powder takes away dullness and brightens up the area. So whether you decide to apply it on a certain area of your face or entire face , it will immediately brighten up the complexion. I have used NYX HD Finishing Powder couple of times in Youtube Videos too. The yellow isn’t too strong and should work perfectly for medium – deep complexions.
Texture & Formula – Now its a true matte formula which means it will make your under eye area dry , if you don’t prepare it before hand. Also the formula is very powdery and kicks in the air every time I use it. I have to be very careful not to dig with my brush or I get excess product. So one tap in the pan is more than enough for one time use.
Formula is matte and doesn’t let the concealer crease or move anywhere. I use it sparingly but girls will oily skin would really enjoy the formula. It is obviously convenient to use and less messy when compared to a loose setting powder.
It stays up for good 6-7 hours on me. But if not used sparingly it causes flash back in photos, which is something I have always observed with Ben Nye Banana Powder. I generally avoid using NYX HD Finishing Powder when I know my photos will be taken using flash only.

Overall Thoughts
NYX HD Finishing Powder Banana isn’t a mind-blowing product and I still prefer my Colorbar Flawless Air Brush Finish Loose Powder over it since latter is very fine and sinks into the skin without looking too obvious.

I’ll give this a skip!!! Have been wanting to try Laura Mercier loose powder for the longest time now! Even my undereyes are dry. 👀 It’s very difficult to keep them moisturized and matte at the same time. 🙈
