Nars Super Orgasm blush ($ 30) available from narscosmetics.com
After the runaway success of its iconic blush Orgasm, Nars has obviously decided to cash in on the craze by launching other products revolving around this theme. Enter Super Orgasm, supposed to be Nars Orgasm on boosters.
The normal size of the blush is 4.5 grams. The one I have is a travel edition and hence smaller and was part of a value set that I purchased.
Shade – As the name suggests, Nars Super Orgasm Blush is touted to be a “SUPER” version of the original. It is peachy pink with gold glitter. Though it is supposed to be Orgasm with the glitter added, I do see a slightly more depth in the peach shade. There is actually a ton of visible glitter in the pan itself. The gold glitter particles appear circular and are rather large for a blush.
Texture and Formula – The formula of Nars Super Orgasm Blush is buttery smooth and glides on easily. The problem begins with the glitter. It just does not stay in place. I initially find it difficult to get some on my brush to translate onto my cheeks, and then in no time I find glitter particles all over my face.
Pigmentation – Nars Orgasm doesn’t show up much on my skin and so Nars Super Orgasm Blush being the same shade should not. Well for some strange reason, super orgasm does shows up on my skin as a warm peachy coral. The pigmentation seems much better than that of Nars Orgasm. The unfortunate part is, the glitter has a mind of its own. I do like the depth that the glitter offers, and it would be great if the particles were somewhat smaller and they stayed in place. On the skin they show as large glitter pieces – in most of the other glittery blushes that I have used, the glitter/shimmer only serves to give an overall sheen or luminosity.
Staying power – Nars Super Orgasm Blush lasts on me for about 4 hours if used on top of primer, less if used alone.
After overdosing on the Nars blushes I found myself wishing I had saved the money for something a little classier. Nars Super Orgasm is expensive and I think the glitter is not done well at all. I bought this online without testing and I feel that had I gotten the chance to test it, I would have avoided it completely. Having said that, Nars does make some pretty great matte blushes, so if you get a chance to try them, go ahead.
Rating – 2.5/5
